Laketa Coles thinks Aldi's owners are racists because they want to move their store out of Avondale. Guess it has nothing to do with making money, security, declining populations and the overall cost of doing business in the area.

Without the Aldi, Avondale residents would be left with only convenience stores for food shopping in the neighborhood.

And that's why we (African-Americans) have the diabetes, the hypertension, because we don't always have stores to buy fresh produce and healthy food," Cole said.

"They built the store off the backs of the African-American community, the poor community," she said.
