Appearing on NPR's "All Things Considered" [Thursday], Bill Keller, executive editor of The New York Times said its John McCain/lobbyist bombshell was "not a gotcha story about some kind of quid pro quo. . . . We don't know if there was a quid or a quo in this case. What we do know is that people very close to him, who watched him day after day, were worried enough by his behavior that they felt that he was endangering his career."

Keller says it wasn't a "gotcha" piece.

The fact that he has to defend it says what?

It probably was.

In the year and a half that I've been doing this blog, I've attempted to dis spell the notion of The Billary popularity myth.

For some reason, democrats have always had this love affair with a political actor who never received 50% of the popular vote in either of the presidential elections he was in and have always had this script for The Billary as some kind of gothic republican killer

There always has been something delusional about the Clintons' project to make Hillary this country's next commander in chief. Start with the balderdash so frequently exuded through the media that she is, along with her husband, a "rock star." Well, they left the White House like rock stars. They trashed the place.

Yet Hillary, a physically unprepossessing lady on the far side of middle age, is not a rock star. Agreed, when she and her bodyguards enter a room, she turns a lot of heads, but so does a roadside automobile accident or the clumsy waitress who just spilled a warm plate of fettuccine alfredo on a customer. Why have members of the press insisted on claiming that Hillary is a rock star and, more preposterous still, that she possesses "charisma," notwithstanding that she is a pedestrian campaigner with a tin ear for politics?

For that matter, why have members of the press insisted on claiming that the former Boy President is a political genius? The Democratic Party went into decline almost everywhere throughout the republic while he was bemanuring the White House. Truth be known, when Boy Clinton began campaigning for her, her prospects darkened. The stubborn minority of journalists who have remained undeluded by the Clinton legends and aware of the Clinton record recognized the impending danger. All through the spring and summer, I was asked on talk radio and television whether I thought Bill would be active in Hillary's campaign and, if so, whether he would be an asset. Usually, I expressed doubt on both counts. As I point out in my book about his retirement and his attendant designs to return to the White House, "The Clinton Crack-Up," Hillary's staff always has been uneasy about the presence of her big loveable lug on the campaign trail. Anyone who might bother to contemplate his record as a campaigner would recognize that he is poison when he campaigns for others. In 2004, of the 14 fated Democrats he campaigned for, 12 lost.

I believe we're seeing this same incarnation with Obamamania. People see Obamamania as some kind of invincible tidal wave of liberalism sweeping across the nation.

Why? Because he took out The Billary, the former invincible tidal wave of liberalism.

Let's remind our "progressive" friends out there that they have not received 51% of the popular vote in a presidential election since LBJ in 1964. Jimma Carter got all of 50.8% of the popular vote against a perceived corrupt republican administration.

Progressives would probably offer that their lack of success is more due to the messenger than the message. But their message is why their messengers are continually rejected. After all, look at the GOP candidates over the years (Nixon, Ford, Dole, Bush) not exactly a Whitman sampler of charismatic candidates.

The Billary received all of 49.2% of the vote against a corpse and a lunatic in 1996.

It's still early in the process, but I think it's going to be hilarious to watch all these Kool Aid drinking Obamamania types become totally unhinged when their candidate gets bitch slapped in the general election.

And the NY Times accomplished nothing this morning except piss off a bunch of republicans who probably would have stayed home in November rather than vote for McCain.

This same man, 100 percent anti-illegal aliens, fears Obama could pull a Reagan or a JFK on the Mexican border, head down there, chanting, “Tear down this wall!” or even do an “Ich bin ein Tijuana!!!”

He’s with Obama anyway.

I’m nervous because Harvard political genius Elaine Kamarck told me Hillary understands the various messes we’re in far better than Obama.

Suppose Kamarck’s right?

I’m nervous about the “O’Bambi” factor. Will the terrorists move in next door when Obama’s in the White House?

I’m nervous because Michelle Obama, about whom I just wrote a fawning puff piece, now says that until her husband’s stunning ascendancy, she’s never before been proud of America. Huh?

Barack now claims she didn’t mean it. Oh, yes she did. We all know the insufferable, holier-than-thou, Blame-America-First types who lecture the unwashed from the rarefied air of Cambridge and Brookline.

If I wanted lecturing, I’d be with Hillary.

McCain v NY Times

I don't have time to go through everything that's wrong with the Times piece. Especially when the other bloggers have great takes on it. ( NixGuy, Paindealer, Riehl World, Darke GOP)

Regardless, I do have some points on the piece

1) This qualifies as "journalism"? I've seen better, in depth, pieces on My Space.

2) Wow, I'm shocked that lobbyists hang around senators offices. This is just a hunch, but you probably won't find a tobacco lobbyist hanging around a anti smoking zealot's office. Lobbyists hang around to pols sympathetic to their cause. That's no surprise to anyone but apparently the NY Times.

3) The article mentions that aides were advised to keep her at a distance from McCain but it doesn't mentioned who issued that order. Could it have been McCain himself?

4) The article goes from this relationship to the Keating Five and back to some favors McCain did for this lobbyist. None of these things have to do with the other and the article doesn't link any of them together. It's totally a "throw some shit on the wall and let's see what sticks" piece.

5) Look I've gone back and forth on McCain and I won't support a scumbag which he would be if he was nailing this ho. But ultimately, this piece says much more about the NY Times than it does McCain.

I've noted before that the democratic party is a lose conglomeration of victim groups that often have disputes/grievances against other victim groups within the party ie black v hispanics, union workers v environmentalist, etc.

In an environmental dispute seemingly scripted for eco-friendly California, a man asked prosecutors to file charges against his neighbors because their towering redwoods blocked sunlight to his backyard solar panels.

But the couple next door insisted they should not have to chop down the trees to accommodate Mark Vargas' energy demands because they planted the redwoods before he installed the solar panels in 2001.

Experts say such clashes could become more common as California promotes renewable energy and solar systems become more popular.

You can change the order all you want but it's still three things; unless, of course, you live in "Progress" City.

See "progressives" can't have a city government without the important job of "Director of Climate Protection Initiatives". Of course, that position pays the paltry salary of $160,000/year plus bennies.

I guess it's a "progressive" idea to watch your city go broke.

Sex offenders go home

Thousands of Ohio sex offenders can return to their homes after the state Supreme Court ruled Wednesday in favor of a Green Township man who fought a July 2003 law retroactively requiring him to move because of an earlier conviction.

Justices agreed in a 6-1 decision that the state legislature was unclear about the law’s retroactive intent when it banned sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of schools.

Gerry Porter Jr., 45, plans to move back home with his family in Bridgetown after Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Ruehlman ordered him to move in October 2005 because he lived about 300 yards from St. Jude’s School.

It's always been odd to me that a sex offender can stand outside of a school yard and watch kids but can't live within a 1000 feet of a school regardless of their offense.

I know of a guy who is required to be inside of his home by 10:00 every night. You know... because the streets are lined up with kids after 10:00.

Hopefully, the courts will bring some sanity to these stupid restrictions on these offenders.

As I always say, if our elected officials truly believe these guys are a danger to our kids, why are they on the streets to begin with?

The accomplishments are so numerous, we just can't seem to name any.

Seriously, If either of these empty suits are so committed to health care for all and have such tremendous leadership skills, how is it no one can name one bill they ever shepherded through the senate.

Say what you will about McCain, when he's passionate about an issue, he'll at least get a photo op out of the deal.

Has Obamamania killed The Billary?

It's been 9 primary victories in a row.

That would end the political life of a mere mortal. But we're talking about The Billary, the Freddy Kreuger of politics.

Those victories amount to no more than a few gun shot wounds, a stabbing in the eye, torching and throwing The Billary off a 10 story building. That would kill every other politician but The Billary is still flinching.

One has to wonder, if Che Obama is the only pol able to finally kill off The Billary, does that make him super human? It might.

It might also give poor Michelle the second thing she can be proud of in her adult life.

Geldof on Bush

Dear Bob Geldof,

I'm reading this piece on Bush's aid to Africa and was especially stuck by this excerpt.

Mr. Geldof praised Mr. Bush for his work in delivering billions to fight disease and poverty in Africa, and blasted the U.S. press for ignoring the achievement.

Mr. Bush, said Mr. Geldof, "has done more than any other president so far."

"This is the triumph of American policy really," he said. "It was probably unexpected of the man. It was expected of the nation, but not of the man, but both rose to the occasion."

"What's in it for [Mr. Bush]? Absolutely nothing," Mr. Geldof said.

Mr. Geldof said that the president has failed "to articulate this to Americans" but said he is also "pissed off" at the press for their failure to report on this good news story.

"You guys didn't pay attention," Geldof said to a group of reporters from all the major newspapers.

Look here you little twerp. You don't know the George Bush that we know. The George Bush who's wiretapping the phones of his enemies, arresting them and throwing them in a prisoner of war camp in Gitmo; the Bush who's intent on starving children and puppies to death; the Bush who wants to turn the world into a global warming inferno.

We've been paying attention all right, but we've been watching the important things; like watching Karl Rove eat lunch with a Hitler youth group.

I guess it's more than just a few fans of Obamamania throwing up some Che flags in a "volunteer" campaign office.

In his books, Obama admits attending "socialist conferences" and coming into contact with Marxist literature. But he ridicules the charge of being a "hard-core academic Marxist," which was made by his colorful and outspoken 2004 U.S. Senate opponent, Republican Alan Keyes.

However, through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his "poetry" and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just "Frank."

The reason is apparent: Davis was a known communist who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union. In fact, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member. What's more, anti-communist congressional committees, including the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), accused Davis of involvement in several communist-front organizations.

Is it possible to want The Billary back?

So Fidel is retiring.

This regime's KGB-supervised police -- employing the midnight knock and the dawn raid among other devices -- rounded up and jailed more political prisoners as a percentage of population than Stalin's and executed more people (out of a population of 6.4 million) in its first three years in power than Hitler's executed (out of a population of 70 million) in it's first six.

Sounds like democrats to me.

But of course Matthews is right about one thing. Obama does speak about America in a way that has nothing to do with politics. Politics is about policies, about ideas, about programs — but Obama’s speech is all about platitudes and puffery and pretense. Just read the speech that gave Matthews “restless leg syndrome,” and you’ll see what I mean.

Obama has been widely compared to JFK, most notably by the late president's brother and daughter. President Kennedy, a stalwart anticommunist, despised Castro and his gang of totalitarian thugs. But when word broke last week that Obama's supporters in Houston work under a banner glorifying Che, the campaign's reaction was to brush it off as an issue involving volunteers, not the official campaign. After two days of controversy, the campaign issued a statement calling the flag "inappropriate" and saying its display "does not reflect Senator Obama's views." Would JFK have reacted so mildly?

In December 1962, Kennedy offered a blunt summary of the Castro/Che record. "The Cuban people were promised by the revolution political liberty, social justice, intellectual freedom, land for the campesinos, and an end to economic exploitation," he said. "They have received a police state, the elimination of the dignity of land ownership, the destruction of free speech and a free press, and the complete subjugation of individual human welfare." Eleven months later, in a speech intended for delivery on the day he was assassinated, Kennedy regretted that Castro's "Communist foothold" in Latin America had "not yet been eliminated."

Were he alive today, it's hard to imagine JFK feeling anything but contempt for those who extol a dictatorship that has been crushing freedom and human beings for nearly 50 years. And it would surely pain him that so many of the cheerleaders are members of his own party.

We were disappointed to see this picture because it is both offensive to many Cuban-Americans -- and Americans of all backgrounds -- and because it does not reflect Senator Obama’s views. Barack Obama has been very clear in putting forward a Cuba policy that is based on one principle: freedom for the Cuban people." -- Obama campaign.

The fact that the Obama people have distanced themselves from this office is really beside the point.

The point is, these are the types of people who are supporting Obama, communists and communist sympathizers.

What does that say about Obama himself? The cult of personality that threw Castro, Chavez, et al. into power resembles Obama.

It's no coincidence that Obama received another powerful endorsement the other day from none other than Daniel Ortega, Nicaraguan President and leader of the communist backed sandinistas.

"It's not to say that there is already a revolution under way in the U.S. ... but yes, they are laying the foundations for a revolutionary change," the Sandinista leader said Wednesday night as he accepted an honorary doctorate from an engineering university."

As I say repeatedly about the issues and candidates, I look to see who's backing what/who and that tells me more than any speech will and I see communists supporting Obama. Plain and simple.

In the democratic primary, who has the most votes from a popular vote stand point?

For all the crying about Al Gore on 2000, you'd think the democratic party would be sensitive to selecting a candidate with the most popular votes in the primary season. I'm just curious as to who that person is.

The general picture is this: Americans are continuing to flee the Northeast and Midwest, while the leading destinations continue to be Southern and Western states.

The United Van Lines study finds that the biggest population loser last year was Michigan, where two families moved out of the state for every new family that moved in. Americans are also fleeing New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Illinois. Without interviewing the departed, it's impossible to know the reasons for this outward migration. No doubt overall economic prospects, climate, quality of life and housing prices play a role.

Abstinence

I'm always harping on abstinence education, namely we teach it on nearly every subject except sex. We teach our children to abstain from tobacco, steroids, dangerous driving, drinking, drugs etc. why not sex?

Out of curiosity, would we teach children to abstain from eating potato chips if eating them caused Clamydia?

We now have a 13 year old Hamilton youth with the disease after having sex with a 20 year old woman.

It's a good thing we teach our youngin's about safe sex.

On a related sex note; maybe the woman can use the "I was just born to like 13 year old boys" as a defense for her perversion.

Well now you've got them and they aren't going away until they suck the oxygen and life out of the party and Obama.

By the time The Billary gets done with Obama, democrats will be running with a chalk outline on the road as their candidate.

I've had it for the day

During my tax season, it has always amazed me at how so many of my days take on a certain theme.

For instance, it's amazing when my gay clients all come in on the same day, or when all my clients that day were divorced in the past year, or like yesterday, I met with three clients who had a spouse die in the past year.

Well today has a theme to it as well.

It's "dumbass personal finance day".

So I'm going to give all my readers a financial education. Let's say you and your spouse both work and make about $100,000 a year between the two of you. YOU CANNOT AFFORD A $350,000 HOUSE.

But let's say you don't follow this advice and buy the house anyway. YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE ONE SPOUSE QUIT THEIR JOB AND BE A STAY AT HOME PARENT.

But once again, you're not going to follow my advice and do it anyway. DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT PULL $60,000 OUT OF RETIREMENT PLANS TO SUBSIDIZE YOUR LIFESTYLE.

But you still won't listen to ole Gordon. So when you pull $60,000 out of retirement accounts DON'T EXPECT A REFUND.... EXPECT TO OWE TAXES!

Am I? God designed me to like tall women with curves but there are plenty of men who aren't sexually attracted to that at all. Some men like short petite brunettes, some like skanky chicks, some like young girls, and some men are attracted to other men, some animals, some multiple partners. Aren't we all just born that way?

How do we distinguish what sex acts should be regulated and those that should not.

As I've said before, nature dictates that when a girl starts menstruating, they are mature enough to bear children so who are we to put some arbitrary date on when someone can have sexual relations.

I would argue that nature says its more natural for a 40 year old man to have sex with a menstruating thirteen year old than a man to have sex with another man. Yet ones illegal and the other is not.

What's the difference?

McCain's conservative address

I watched John McCain's address to conservatives yesterday and I have to say, he did seem to do a good job of faking some humility and some ability to hear with his tin ear.

Whether or not it changes his executive style remains to be seen. I only know this, if he is elected president, expect David Souter clones to be his Supreme Court nominees.

We as conservatives have to decide, is a Souter better than a Ginsburg?

School district funding

My office is in a NE Cincinnati suburb of Loveland. Our community is in the throws of a civil war with the school system surrounding school district funding. Mind you, we just past a giant tax increase in this community last year. Parents are upset with people who have decided to place huuuge anti tax banners in their front yards.

I was reading this article in the paper. Now I am a product of public schools but yet I still have some intelligent questions such as

1) The current budget of 36 million supports 4470 students; that's $8054 per student. The levy will increase the budget by 6 million. That will put per student spending at $9,400/student. That seems like a lot of money to me.

2) The school district fired their previous Treasurer for financial improprieties that the state auditor is investigating (she was under suspension with pay since September). Her annual salary was $113,000 per year plus benefits. It seems to me that you should be able to hire a treasurer and a teacher for that much money.

3) Our community has seen an increase in enrollment as everybody is fleeing Progress City for a good life in the suburbs. But this is what I do not understand.

Prior to development of a residential community you have farm land which pays very little in the way of property taxes ( and you have little in the way of school enrollment).When you subdivide that property for homes, yes, you now have an increase in school enrollment; but you also have an increase in your tax base from development of the property. Especially here in Loveland where we are not talking about subsidized housing development but homes ranging from 200 - 500k.

If the additional tax base cannot support the additional stress on your infrastructure, why do you allow the development in the first place?

It looks like this community is on it's way to the war Milford schools is having with it's residents and it's not pretty.

The Billary kicks in 5 mil

For a family so committed to a life of public service, they sure do have a lot of money to throw around.

I guess the thought of kicking in the 5 million to the campaign was a better choice than paying for some free clinic services in Harlem where their office is.

On a related note, what, isn't their any more chinese fund raisers around to kick in to the campaign.

On yet another related note, The Billary's senior people are working pro bono for the time being yet The Billary is still collecting a senate check for work he/she doesn't do. Anyone see a contradiction here?

McCain's humility

I'm on the treadmill tonight watching Fox news and before Britt Hume questioned their panel they showed a clip of McCain speaking about his lack of conservative support.

He said a few nothings and then stated it's time for conservatives to "calm down".... Easy for you to say John.

Charles Krauthammer had a great comment on this passage. To roughly paraphrase "McCain either has to learn a sense of humility or fake one and given his age, he's probably too old to learn."

Krauthammer mentioned that George Bush supports many of the same issues as McCain but has avoided conservative hatred because he doesn't just dismiss conservatives like a fly on his butt as McCain does.

McCain could score a lot of points with conservatives if he would just own his previous dismissals of conservatives.

But then again, if had that kind of humility in the first place he wouldn't be in this jam.

I actually disagree with Podhoretz. I won't speak for "the right" on this but my take is this. What gets into my rear about McCain is his willingness to fight on an issue that pokes the eyes of conservatism.

McCain-Feingold, immigration, gang of 14, you name it. He'll not only throw conservatives under the bus on the issue; he'll put on the cap and get behind the driver's wheel.

Just one time, I would have liked to see McCain take an issue and actually fight the conservative cause, just one time.

It's what I don't trust about McCain, he's loaded up his resume with lot's of conservative votes in the senate but where the rubber meets the road, he's all about supporting liberal causes.

If someone can think of a conservative cause he's championed, I'd like to know what it is. If you're going to tell me abortion, I'd tell you that any vote on abortion is wasted since the courts have basically stolen the issue.

Just one, I'm only asking for one.

Many of these fat asses are the ones who voted to ban smoking from public places, who vote to make "six foot" rules at strip clubs, many would vote against casino gaming and basically all other things fun. So why shouldn't they bear some pain in the ban game?

Even better than that, let's make them run three miles a night until and only eat soy products. Maybe then they'll leave me alone when I want to go to a casino.

Barbra is donating money to Jim McDermott and William Jefferson's legal defense funds.

Members of the leadership on both sides of the aisle cut checks to legally embattled House colleagues, and even Barbra Streisand contributed $1,000 to Rep. Jim McDermott’s (D-Wash.) legal expense fund.

Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.), who will face trial late this month on an array of bribery and corruption charges, has collected a total of $166,550 since 2005 to help defray legal costs.

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) have sent a steady stream of checks to the Louisiana Democrat, and this quarter was no different. House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.), a prominent CBC member, donated $5,000 through his leadership political action committee (PAC), and Rep. Mel Watt (D-N.C.), a former CBC chairman, cut him a check for $1,800. Weldon J. Rougeau, a past chairman of the CBC Foundation and a lawyer at Arent Fox, donated $1,000 this quarter.

Never mind that McDermott has already been convicted and appeals exhausted on his issue.

But I think a fair question is.... Do democrats/progressives/liberals support corruption?

Look at all the people in the democratic party who have been charged and/or convicted of impropriety. Billary, Ted Kennedy, Marion Berry, William Jefferson, Jim McDermott, Barney Frank, Patrick Kennedy, the list goes on and on.

Not only have these guys received continued support from the party, they've even kept their jobs as an elected official. Is their any crime a democrat can commit that would command rebuke from party loyalists?

Go over to the GOP side, Newt Gingrinch, Bob Packwood, Bob Livingston, Trent Lott, Bob Ney. Not only to these guys lose their jobs, but their also convicted of crimes. Hell even Larry Craig is going to lose to a democrat (or hopefully a GOP candidate in a primary) for his little texas toe tap in the bathroom stall.

The fact is, conservatives won't support such leeches.

I did my weekly run to the post office to purchase 17 cent stamps and ship a package Priority Mail.

You would think that a monopoly on the mail business would be able supply a simple request like selling stamps. After all, that's what they do correct. You sell 41 centers you should be able to sell the seventeen centers for the second, third, fourth, etc ounces.

But noooooooooooooooo. For the sixth straight week this is how my conversation goes with the postal employee.

GG can I get a roll of seventeen cent stamps?

Postal employee (PE) Sorry we haven't got those in yet.

GG This is the sixth straight week I've asked for these and you still haven't received them?

PE That's correct

GG(upset) OK well I guess I'll take a sleeve of Priority mail postage

PE Sorry sir we're out of those as well.

GG Is their any postage you do have?

PE We have the 41 and 58 cent stamps.

GG I can get those at Sam's Club

PE That is correct sir.

Now keep in mind, I had to wait 15 minutes just to get no service. Apparently the postal service is taking out the vending machines from all of their locations which means if you don't want to be able to buy stamps you'll have to wait in line 15-20 minutes to have a live person tell you they don't have the postage you want.

Now imagine this conversation with a government doctor but replace stamps with the words penicillin.

Sorry, we don't have any money

Federal state and local politicians have been trying to figure out where they are going to come up with the six billion dollars its going to take to replace the Brent Spence Bridge, the I-75/I-71 corridor across the Ohio River.

Wow... No one has the money for this project but Bush has 3.1 TRILLION to throw around for every thing else.

Do you want to know why I don't trust government, because I would bet the average joe could put the construction of that bridge in front of 3 million other "priorities" that will get funding this year.

Tell me again how you want these guys to run health care.

New Year's resolution

Like a lot of people, losing weight is one of my New Year's resolutions. In addition, since my brother found out (as I did) that the beer, pizza, ice cream diet doesn't really do much for weight loss, we made a little wager as to who could lose the most weight before Mother's day.

So here it is; drum roll please...... I lost 15 lbs for the month of January.

Take that bro. I'll be slappin' on that speedo by mid March.

I've got an idea for The Billary. Let's start sharing that 20 mil, you guys took from that deal in Carjackistan.

I've got another idea. The Billary should have no problem sharing upwards of the $500 mil she's generated from campaign contributors to charity.

But why is it, that our elected leaders always makes sure that everyone has to share but themselves.

Super Bowl Follow up

I watch the game yesterday. Originally I had no rooting interest in either team. But when the Giants took the lead, I found myself cheering for them.

With one second on the clock, I watched that low budget piece of dung Bill Bellichick, leave the field. Now remember, in the NFL the game has to end, you can't forfeit, or throw a white towel on the field.

Watching that d-bag leave the field early only solidified my thoughts that I wanted the right team to win.

Clinton infers garnishment for medical insurance

So the Billary wants to garnish employee wages to pay for their medical insurance.

Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC's "This Week," she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages, automatic enrollment."

Sure, why not. After all we already do this for their health care at retirement, aka medicare, and we also do it for their retirement, aka social security. so why not add another level of socialist programs we can't afford, force employers to collect for the government, and watch the program generate trillions of dollars in unfunded liabilities.

The TRUTH v relative truth

I was listening to a Cd from my church and something really caught my attention.

The speaker speaks of The Truth v. Relative Truth.

The point he makes. If you are a person who believes in relative truth; you are prone to bend your belief of the truth to conform to your life. If you believe in "The Truth", you are prone to bend your life around those truths.

This is not an overly religious message, but it's an excellent lesson on how we view our own intellectual honesty.

Are you a believer in absolute truths? Are you a person who thinks that truth is what democratic majority of our peers says it is? How do you discern what the "truth" actually is? Do you think the goal in life is to continually pursue "truths" without ever actually deciding what the "truth" really is (ie the goal in life is pursuit of the open mind.... not to really find the "truth")?

This really speaks to me because of my own pursuit of faith from a life of agnosticism.

It's also the place where I developed some sense of humility. It's clear that the more I know, the more I realize I don't know. I'd encourage you to listen to the message. (actually listen to all the messages in the series, it's a good one.)
