Apparently, the AP finally dug up some dirt on Sarah Palin. She's ambitious...........

Much of the country was taken by surprise when Sarah Palin became the Republican vice presidential candidate in August 2008, but newly released emails make it clear that the little-known Alaska governor was angling for the slot months before Sen. John McCain asked her to join him on the GOP ticket. Earlier that summer, Palin and her staff began pushing to find a larger audience for the governor, wedging her into national conversations and nudging the McCain campaign to notice her.

Seriously, it would have been nice if the AP would have pooled their resources to actually find Obama's college transcripts, theses, etc. before he actually became president instead of badgering a former governor who to date has the important position of being a former governor.

Could you need more proof that the mainstream media is mentally unhinged (probably explains the liberalism)?

Life in "Progress" City - NY edition

Shots rang out on a crowded Queens subway train Thursday, forcing riders to duck and run as two gangs brawled.

Riders panicked when three shots erupted from the last cars of a Manhattan-bound A train at the Howard Beach station about 6:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The adversaries fled down the tracks of the 159th St. and Coleman Square elevated connecting point to the AirTrain to Kennedy Airport.

Police said they arrested three persons for trespassing on the track, but said they found no evidence of shots being fired.

Witnesses said differently.

"I heard the gunshots and everyone started to yell 'Get down! Get down!" said Genesis Fernandez, 15, of East New York. "I was really frightened."

Liberal cheating - a mental disorder

As their relentless biological clocks tick towards fertility's Armageddon, these sexually "liberated" women suddenly become obsessed with their medical checkups, running to the OBGYN with neurotic frequency, to make sure their alley-cat lifestyle has not resulted in any of the dreaded, fertility-destroying sexually transmitted diseases. I've seen some of these women nearly go completely insane as they receive one of those now-common, "So sorry I may have infected you" love notes from a former "lover." It's enough to make wise women cry for them. Yes, we pity them and wonder over and over how our sisters, so smart in so many ways, could be so utterly middle-school-level stupid.

Evidently, the liberal woman is capable of the most severe form of psychological denial known to humankind. Certain that one of the men with whom she has copulated without strings will suddenly morph into a faithfully monogamous creature the minute she can convince one of them to say "I do" in front of a few witnesses, the liberal woman marches blindly down the aisle towards near-certain, adulterous doom. Yet, no amount of honest reason can dissuade liberal women from this self-destructive, moral myopia.

What other term but "morally schizoid" could possibly describe this blatantly contradictory tendency among liberal women?

Having spent their youth casually throwing their own sexual morality to the winds of fairytale "liberation," these liberal women still steadfastly cling to the faithfully monogamous ideal for that sometime-later moment when they actually do desire all the traditional things -- the husband, the kids, the white picket fence -- those pesky female-nature embedded longings, which coincidentally ensure the continuation of the human race.

Life in "Progress" State - Illinois edition

The company that owns Chicago's two leading futures exchanges is weighing whether to move some operations from Illinois, citing the state's corporate tax rate increase.

"We're investigating what would be in the best interests of our shareholders," Terrence Duffy, executive chairman of CME Group Inc., said at the firm's annual meeting Wednesday, noting that such a move would not mean CME would abandon its presence in Chicago, home to its markets for more than a century.

The state in January raised the corporate income tax rate temporarily to 7 percent from 4.8. Corporations also pay a 2.5 percent tax on income, called the personal property replacement tax, which is collected by the state and flows to local governments. The two rates taken together come to 9.5 percent, the third-highest rate in the U.S., according to the Tax Foundation, a non-partisan Washington-based research group.

I'm a conservative for those in the lower middle class.

American Electric Power on Thursday announced it plans to shut down several coal-fired power plants, convert or retrofit others, and cut as many as 600 jobs in the next few years to comply with regulations proposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Based on the proposed regulations, AEP will have to retire nearly 6,000 megawatts of coalfueled power generation; upgrade or install new advanced emissions reduction equipment on another 10,100 megawatts; refuel 1,070 megawatts of coal generation as 932 megawatts of natural gas capacity; and build 1,220 megawatts of natural gas-fueled generation.

The cost of AEP’s compliance plan could range from $6 billion to $8 billion in capital investment through the end of the decade. The company said high demand for labor and materials due to a constrained compliance time frame could drive actual costs higher than these estimates.

Now, if you are an Obamunist, you say "Hey look at all the jobs we're creating from that plant investment".

But that investment is going to be paid for by the people who use electricity.

Everyone in the media seems to be surprised all the time.

U.S. initial jobless claims unexpectedly rose last week, a sign that the labor market is struggling to gain traction.

Jobless claims increased by 1,000 to 427,000 in the week ended June 4, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg News projected a drop in claims to 419,000, according to the median forecast. The number of people on unemployment benefit rolls and those receiving extended payments decreased.

An Ohio restaurant mentioned last week by President Barack Obama as an indirect beneficiary of the government's Chrysler bailout will go out of business Sunday after a more than 70-year history.

Co-owner Richard Lawrence of New Chet's Restaurant in Toledo says business has fallen victim to the economy and the workplace smoking ban approved by Ohttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifhio voters in 2006. He told The Blade newspaper of Toledo on Wednesday that auto industry cutbacks also hurt.

Lawrence says he used to deliver up to $300 in food per week to Chrysler Group LLC's Jeep plant in Toledo, but now that's down to about $100 worth.

Obama visited the plant on Friday and told workers that without them, who would eat at Chet's or patronize other local businesses?

Two new EPA pollution regulations will slam the coal industry so hard that hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost, and electric rates will skyrocket 11 percent to over 23 percent, according to a new study based on government data.

Overall, the rules aimed at making the air cleaner could cost the coal-fired power plant industry $180 billion, warns a trade group.

“Many of these severe impacts would hit families living in states already facing serious economic challenges,” said Steve Miller, president of the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity. “Because of these impacts, EPA should make major changes to the proposed regulations before they are finalized,” he said.

The EPA, however, tells Whispers that the hit the industry will suffer is worth the health benefits. “EPA has taken a number of sensible steps to protect public health, while also working with industry and other stakeholders to ensure that these important Clean Air Act standards—such as the first ever national Mercury and Air Toxics Standards for coal-fired power plants—are reasonable, common-sense, and achievable,” said spokesman Brendan Gilfillan.

Of course, the EPA will tell you these are not a direct tax on individuals but who do you think the utility companies will be passing the costs on to?

This is my general view of sex scandals. But there is lying and then there is what Weiner did. Due to nonstop meetings, I had not had time to watch his media blitz prior to my Greta interview and was slack-jawed when I saw clips of him the next day sneering and pointing fingers at other people for what he knew he had done. I am of the general view that politicians are not the most honest group of people, but, even using that very low standard, what I saw in those interviews was deeply disturbing. There is no way anyone can ever believe anything Weiner says again after that. In fact, I highly doubt that what he said in his press conference is even true.

Narcissism doesn’t begin to describe this kind of behavior. It seems there was nobody he didn’t lie to. The New York Times reported this morning that he told donors a week ago that the scandal was the result of a “vast right-wing conspiracy” and that “everything [would] be fine.” We also learned after his press conference that he coached a former porn star with whom he had communicated online on how to lie to the media.

But even if I could see past the lying and extreme narcissism that is noteworthy even by Washington standards, there is the issue of his attitude toward women. What has emerged is a picture of a predator trolling the Internet for women—some half his age—with which to engage in cybersex. We know only about the women who were responsive to his overtures. The odds are very high that he struck out with many, and other women were victim to his unsolicited sex talk. Women should be able to “friend” a married—or unmarried—congressman on Facebook or follow him on Twitter without fear of being the recipient of lewd talk or behavior. Just because a woman “likes” your video on Facebook doesn’t mean you can send her a picture of your penis. This is textbook sexual harassment. It may not be illegal, but it’s definitely unethical. He is in a position of influence, and many women—especially a 21-year-old—would be afraid to report a congressman doing that to them because he holds so much power. Also, he claims none of the women he contacted were underage, but how could he possibly know that?

Her arguments above sound an awful lot like a similar case in the 1990's with her former boss (one B.J Clinton) except we need to change the word "lie" to the word "perjury".

Remember when BJ sent his subordinates (Madeline Albright, Janet Reno et al) to advance his perjury, or how he waved that forefinger claiming "I did not have sexual relations.......", or how about the other claims of sexual abuse and/or outright rape allegations; talk about misogyny.

In addition, I seem to remember that whole "right wing conspiracy" tripe being laid out by the Billary.

Now Kirsten wasn't on Fox News back then so I wouldn't know how she felt about her boss getting hummers in the Oval Office from a girl half his age but I'm thinking she was more than willing to give the Billary a big time pass.

So can conservatives use the argument that "it's not the sex.... it's the perjury" since we weren't allowed to 15 years ago.

So Obama's solution to the lack of jobs? Train the unemployed so they can at least be skilled unemployed............

As public dismay over his handling of the economy is on the rise, President Obama will announce a new job training program Wednesday at a Washington, D.C.-area community college.

White House officials say that Mr. Obama will be joined at the Alexandria campus of Northern Virginia Community College by various business leaders to discuss a manufacturing sector job credentialing program. "[T]his is the type of mobilization and all-hands-on-deck effort that is so needed in this economy," National Economic Council Director Gene Sperling told reporters Tuesday, adding, "particularly at this moment and particularly as we hope to see the continued strength that we've seen over the last year in the manufacturing sector and manufacturing jobs."

By asking employers what skill sets they seek from applicants and working with community colleges to offer credentialing in those courses, officials say it's possible they can fill the void.

Frankly, we have huge number of educated college grads who can't get jobs.

How about creating an environment where those talents are actually needed by businesses.

Obama’s demeanor on the international stage may be more appealing to Europeans and others irritated by Bush’s cowboy persona, but in terms of the one-on-one relationship building that can be a potent diplomatic lever for any president, the Democrat is practically an introvert compared with his world-class schmoozing predecessor.

That’s what made Obama’s dinner on Monday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at an upscale Georgetown restaurant stand out.

More than two years into his term, Obama cuts the image of an all-business envoy, seldom going outside normal business hours to turn on the charm with other heads of state. He appears to have built few deep personal bonds with foreign leaders, and his forays into public diplomacy — a burger run last year with Russia’s Dmitry Medvedev and a game of Ping-Pong last month with Britain’s David Cameron — are notable for their rarity.

Bush, by contrast, bonded with Britain’s Tony Blair at Camp David, took Japan’s Junichiro Koizumi on a tour of Graceland, strolled hand-in-hand with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah at the president’s Texas ranch, looked into the eyes of Russia’s Vladimir Putin during another ranch summit to “get a sense of his soul,” and visited the family hacienda of Mexico’s Vicente Fox to pay respects to his mother.

Why would you want to live in the city?

Maybe it's the safe neighborhoods............

Unless you’ve got it like Russell Simmons and can pay for a bodyguard, every black parent who is raising a teenager in a predominantly black environment has to be worried.

It is just not possible to keep your eyes on a teenager 24/7.

And there are black single mothers all over America who are doing the best they can to raise their sons to manhood, and those sons are being cut down because getting them to that promised land is getting a lot harder.

When my sons wanted to go out with friends on a Saturday night, I would give them their marching orders and a curfew. Now a mother has to practically sprinkle holy water on a son before she lets him walk out the door.

Last weekend it was Ryan Royall, a 17-year-old aspiring college basketball player. Royall had just finished his junior year at Hillcrest High School when he was gunned down after leaving a party.

The young black man’s death is the result of a “senseless shooting” at the kind of milestone event that we all remember. Royall and his friends went to a birthday party at the Ho-Chunk Sports and Expo Center in Lynwood. The facility was rented out for a 16-year-old’s birthday party.

Or maybe's it's the muggings on buses.........

In two separate incidents, as many as 15 teens have stormed Chicago Transit Authority buses, attacked their victims and darted off with cell phones and other electronic devices, authorities said Tuesday.

Both incidents were near the University of Illinois at Chicago campus, prompting city and campus authorities to issue community alerts.

In the first attack, near West Roosevelt Road and South Loomis Street at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday, a victim was struck multiple times before the thieves ran off with his cell phone.

About 25 minutes later, near South Racine Avenue and West 13th Street, a student said he was sitting on a No. 12 bus when as many as 15 black boys and young men boarded the bus without paying. The student was hit in the back of his head with a glass bottle and was robbed of his iPod, said UIC police.

I think I'll just cling to my guns and God out here in "Redville".
