Friday Funny
In honor of the 44th President of the United States, Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream has introduced a new flavor: "Barocky Road."
Barocky Road is a blend of half vanilla, half chocolate, and surrounded by nuts and flakes. The vanilla portion of the mix is not openly advertised and usually denied as an ingredient. The nuts and flakes are all very bitter and hard to swallow.
The cost is $100.00 per scoop.
When purchased it will be presented to you in a large beautiful cone, but then the ice cream is taken away and given to the person in line behind you. You are left with an empty wallet and no change, holding an empty cone with no hope of getting any ice cream.
Are you feeling stimulated yet?
Coulter on California
Finally (so far, anyway), reporters gleefully released the divorce records of Prejean's parents. Because when you want the truth, what is more reliable than angry accusations traded in the middle of an acrimonious divorce?
Liberals used the divorce papers to argue that Prejean had some deep-seated psychological disturbance causing her to oppose gay marriage. Symptoms of this debilitating illness include a belief in some sort of "god" and a reverence for the Bible.
It's not as if Prejean's special talent in the Miss USA contest was to perform an opposite-sex marriage. (Or, as the president and I call it, "marriage.") She didn't even volunteer her "controversial" views on marriage. Rather, she was asked for her opinion on gay marriage and gave it -- in an answer wrapped in so many layers of sugar it took 10 minutes to get to the point.
"Well, I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. You know what, in my country, in my family, I do believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to anybody out there. But that's how I was raised, and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman."
What a vicious hate-monger! Any second there I was expecting her to bust out a "by golly!" or an "oh my gosh!" Angry gay-marriage supporters should be happy they didn't get my version of that answer. It contains some terms you won't find in your Bible.
Liberals wouldn't attack James Dobson with the amount of bile they've directed at a 21-year-old beauty contestant. It's not just Christianity -- it's women liberals hate.
From Jean-Paul Sartre, Pablo Picasso and Bertrand Russell, who treated women -- mostly their mistresses -- like dogs, to Teddy Kennedy and Bill Clinton in our own day, liberals are ferocious misogynists. They share Muslims' opinion of women, differing only to the extent that liberals also support a women's right to have an abortion and to perform lap dances.

Three months afterMore....California seemingly averted a state budget meltdown, voters are being asked to ratify billions of dollars in higher taxes that were part of the deal.So far, voters don't seem to be buying it, a mood that portends trouble for other deficit-addled states whose political leaders are proposing tax hikes as a way out.
"The voters who are really tuned in are really turned off," said Mark Baldassare, president of the Public Policy Institute of California, a think tank. "They see the state's budget situation as a big problem, but so far, they don't like the solution."
Among the half-dozen ballot initiatives facing voters in a special election Tuesday are tax hikes and borrowing measures that are the centerpiece of Republican Gov.
Arnold Schwarzenegger 's budget plan. Two polls, one conducted by the Field Poll in late April and another by the Public Policy Institute of California in early May, found Schwarzenegger's proposals trailing badly. Those proposals include a $16 billion extension in sales, auto, income and other tax increases for two additional years while placing a cap on future state spending.

This week, thousands of people are getting stimulus checks in the mail. The problem is that a lot of them are dead. A Long Island woman was shocked when she checked the mail and received a letter from the U.S. Treasury -- but it wasn't for her.
Antoniette Santopadre of Valley Stream was expecting a $250 stimulus check. But when her son finally opened it, they saw that the check was made out to her father, Romolo Romonini, who died in Italy 34 years ago. He'd been a U.S. citizen when he left for Italy in 1933, but only returned to the United Stated for a seven-month visit in 1969.

A 15-year-old wanted in connection with a Tuesday night shooting at a crowded park has been arrested, Cincinnati police said.A 17-year-old was shot in the head at about 7:25 p.m. near Price and Hawthorne avenues. Both boys knew each other, said Sgt. Joe Richardson of the Cincinnati police. They went to West Hills High School and got into a fistfight about two weeks ago.
“The shooter lost the fistfight and came back with a gun to get even,” he said. “He rode up on the bike, fired one shot and hit (the victim) in the head.”
After the incident, police were tracking the suspect on a red BMX bicycle. They found the bike in the 900 block of Wells Street, where the suspect was allegedly living. A SWAT team was sent into the house, but he wasn’t there. On Wednesday afternoon, officers found him.
Police officers took the teen into custody without any trouble. He was arrested on one count of felonious assault and taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
Tuesday’s shooting happened near Dempsey Park and Playground, which was full of people at the time. A youth baseball game was being played in the park, which could have created a very dangerous situation, Richardson said.
Now Monday night, the Gekko's took their nieces to soccer practice out here in Redville. To my knowledge no one had to worry about getting shot.
What's so "Progressive" about about park shootings?

The Obama administration is weighing plans to detain some terror suspects on U.S. soil -- indefinitely and without trial -- as part of a plan to retool military commission trials that were conducted for prisoners held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The proposal being floated with members of Congress is another indication of President Barack Obama's struggles to establish his counter-terrorism policies, balancing security concerns against attempts to alter Bush-administration practices he has harshly criticized.
On Wednesday, the president reversed a recent administration decision to release photos showing purported abuse of prisoners at U.S. military facilities in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Obama cited concern that releasing the pictures could endanger U.S. troops. Mr. Obama ordered government lawyers to pull back an earlier court filing promising to release hundreds of photos by month's end as part a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union. The decision to block the detainee photos contrasts with the administration's release last month of Bush-era Justice Department memorandums outlining the interrogation tactics used on prisoners by the Central Intelligence Agency. The release of the memos set off a heated political fight, with supporters of the Bush administration accusing the Obama White House of endangering the country and some of the current president's supporters calling for criminal probes of those responsible for the interrogation policies.

Pelosi - Social Security is Bush's fault
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, reacting to a dire government report on the solvency of Social Security and Medicare, says it’s all the Bush administration’s fault.
"The Trustee's reports reveal that, just as they left behind a record of recession, deficits and debt, the Bush administration's economic and fiscal mismanagement undermined the strength of Social Security and Medicare,” Pelosi said Tuesday in a news release.
According to the trustees’ reports, issued Tuesday, Social Security is spending more than it is taking in, partly because of the economic recession and its depressing effect on payroll taxes. “Medicare's financial status is much worse,” the trustees said.
Nevertheless, Pelosi on Tuesday insisted that President Obama and Congress “will keep the promises of Social Security and Medicare to today's seniors and persons with disabilities and tomorrow's retirees.”
She said Obama’s economic stimulus program is helping, by providing seniors with a $250 rebate this month.
"The previous administration's shortsighted economic policies and fiscal recklessness have made the task of strengthening Social Security and Medicare for the future more difficult, but President Obama and Congress are prepared to meet this challenge,” Pelosi said.
“By strengthening our economy and creating jobs, and by finally tackling the challenge of health care, we are already working to protect the promise of Social Security and Medicare for all Americans."
During his two terms in office, President Bush repeatedly tried to get congressional Democrats to go along with his plan to reform Social Security, but Pelosi and her fellow Democrats refused to even discuss what they called Bush’s “risky partial privatization plan.”
But that's consistent with her memory of the status of social security.
Indeed, in a May 10, 2005 news release, Pelosi declared, "There is no Social Security crisis. We all agree that there is a problem down the road that we should address before it becomes a bigger problem,” she said. But Congress, under Pelosi’s leadership, did nothing about it.
If there was ever someone who needed water boarded it's Pelosi. It's OK because she wouldn't remember it the next day.

Why the media still hates on Sarah Palin
A year after she became an overnight celebrity in America, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin still confounds journalists. You would think that the national media, which spends lots of money to uncover political trends from every nook and truck stop between Portland, Maine, and Portland, Ore., would understand Palin's appeal by now. After all, she rose to prominence as John McCain's running mate last year and helped bolster the disaffected, conservative wing of the Republican Party.
You also might assume journalists could grudgingly appreciate Palin's appeal to conservative voters -- especially the potentially influential "soccer-mom" demographic.
Though Palin could well seek the presidency, she remains something of an American punch line. But even Tina Fey, the incisive comedian who brilliantly lampooned Palin on "Saturday Night Live" during the campaign, has moved on by now.
Palin is "a huge fundraising tool," noted veteran journalist Melinda Henneberger. "People love to read about her. She is very attractive -- and we don't have a surplus of that in American politics. People love to love her and they love to hate her."
My take? Liberal media outlets loathe Sarah Palin (call her Ms. California squared). Why? Because everything about Sarah Palin doesn't fit the media paradigm about feminism in America.
See, Sarah Palin is supposed to be the trophy wife of some caveman in Alaska. Instead she rose to power not on the coattails of some father, husband, brother but on her own merits.
Sarah Palin's not supposed to have a supportive husband who loves her. She's supposed to have Bill Clinton, some dog who's all about getting laid with some skank.
But most of all, when Sarah Palin actually exercised her "choice", she chose to have a special needs child. That child nor that "choice" ended her career ambition(s).
Sarah Palin is a mirror to all those feminists who "chose" to end a pregnancy because it was going to be "inconvenient" or "difficult".
She represents to every woman that you don't have to let your principles slide to "have it all". She is a very real threat to the feminist paradigm being sold to our society. As a result, they really have no choice but to kill her off.
I personally know of eight women who have had abortions. Four of them are open about it, the other four, not so much.
The four who are open about it would tell you that it was the biggest mistake of their lives. The other four have major substance abuse issues. While that's anecdotal, I'd be willing to bet that substance abuse among women who have had abortions is higher than the population.
That's the dirty little secret that the abortion movement doesn't want a young woman to know.
I'd bet my life savings that Sarah Palin has no regrets about her child's life.
And we can't have that story out and about can we?
How "progressives" killed social security reform
FDR's proudest accomplishment, the national Ponzi scheme known as Social Security, is significantly closer to collapse than it was last year - and liberal groups have a lot to do with this fact, but more on that in a moment.
The old age entitlement program reported that program costs will exceed tax revenues in 2016, one year sooner than projected in last year's report. The Old-Age and Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) Trust Funds will be exhausted in 2037, four years sooner than projected last year. "Over the 75-year period, the Trust Funds would require additional revenue equivalent to $5.3 trillion in today's dollars to pay all scheduled benefits," according to the program's board of trustees.
"The worsening of the long-range outlook for the Social Security program is due primarily to the recent economic downturn and faster reductions in mortality than previously assumed," said the trustees.
But the trustees left out an important fact: liberal activism has helped to bring Social Security to the brink.
In 2005 as the defeat of President George W. Bush's campaign to reform Social Security, the so-called third rail of American politics, drew nearer, liberal groups savored their approaching victory. "We're putting the power back into the third rail," gloated Toby Chauduri, a spokesman for the Campaign for America's Future.
Social Security has not been reformed because politicians lack the political will to take action. And why do they lack the will to act? In part because they have been urged not to take action by left-wing groups opposed to putting Social Security on a sound financial footing.
These groups were effective both in keeping Democratic lawmakers in line and in scaring the bejeezus out of Republican lawmakers sympathetic to Social Security reform.
Some of the key liberal groups that have fought Social Security reform tooth and nail are the AFL-CIO, AARP, AFSCME, Campaign for America's Future (CAF), CAF affiliate Institute for America's Future, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, MoveOn.org and USAction.

Massachusetts is expected to unveil the toughest restaurant menu labeling rules in the United States on Wednesday, requiring fast-food chains to list how many calories are in the food they sell in a bid to combat obesity. Now wait a minute! I thought it was my body to do with what I want? I can have an abortion but I can't chow down on some Big Macs? The state's Public Health Council is expected to vote on Wednesday on regulations making fast-food chains list the calorie counts of their food on their menus or menu boards.
The regulations are expected to be more comprehensive than those in California, which in September became the first U.S. state with menu labeling rules for fast-food restaurant chains such as McDonald's Corp and Yum Brands' KFC.

State's rankings by freedom
If you are one of those people who likes to call themselves economically conservative, socially liberal you'll find that the term is as imaginary as a unicorn......
According to the study, previous research has shown that, as of 2006, Alabama and Mississippi were the most conservative states in the country, while New York and New Jersey were the most liberal. In the index put forth by the new study, Alabama and Mississippi fall in the middle, while New York and New Jersey are at the bottom.
“The problem is that the cultural values of liberal governments seem on balance to require more regulation of individual behavior than do the cultural values of conservative governments,” say the study’s authors. “While liberal states are freer than conservative states on marijuana and same-sex partnership policies, when it comes to gun owners, home schoolers, motorists, or smokers, liberal states are nanny states, while conservative states are more tolerant.”
What people miss is that money = freedom. Years ago, I read a Walter Williams column asking whether or not you or more free if he were to take your life savings from you.
The fact is, people who believe it's OK to confiscate your money, also have no problems telling you how to smoke, drink, eat trans fat, and now from the Obamaunists; drink soda. Oh and that abortion thing? Remember, the Chinese first legalized abortion and now force women to have them. How about that for choice?
Ponder the thought.

Millions of Americans on Social Security are receiving $250 checks as part of the president's stimulus plan — including an Anne Arundel woman who died more than 40 years ago.

Borrowing from Peter Jr. to pay Paul Sr.
But for some reason when the government does it, that makes it OK?
The government will have to borrow nearly 50 cents for every dollar it spends this year, exploding the record federal deficit past $1.8 trillion under new White House estimates. Budget office figures released Monday would add $89 billion to the 2009 red ink - increasing it to more than four times last year's all-time high as the government hands out billions more than expected for people who have lost jobs and takes in less tax revenue from people and companies making less money.

Just look at our Medicare and Social Security mess that George Bush tried to clean up and was dragged a country mile for...........
The financial health of the government's two biggest benefit programs may have slipped over the past year, reflecting the deep recession that has already bitten into other areas of the budget. The trustees for Social Security and Medicare are scheduled to provide their annual report on the finances of both programs on Tuesday. In advance of the release, many private analysts said they expected both programs could run out of cash sooner than last predicted.
A year ago, the trustees projected that the Social Security trust fund would start paying out more in benefits than it collects in taxes in 2017 and that the trust fund would be depleted in 2041.
For the Medicare trust fund, which pays for hospital care, the situation was more urgent. It was projected to start paying more in benefits than it collects in taxes within a year, and the trustees forecast that it would be depleted by 2019.

Meet Tamika Cornwell. Why is Tamika in the news?
Two women are scheduled to appear in Hamilton County Municipal Court Monday on charges related to a photo of President Barack Obama.Wyoming police say Marla Anderson wanted that picture and walked into a Grove Avenue home Friday to take it.
She struggled with the owner, who called police for help.
Anderson lost and ended up in the Hamilton County jail – without the photo.
You can't make this up!
Now let's just take this issue a step further. Let's assume Tamika falls in front of a judge with empathy versus one who actually follows the law.
I can hear the judge say "Look, Tamika here was so passionate about that photo she was willing to face prosecution to have it. Whereas, the 'victim' probably bought the photo from money she 'stole' off the backs of working people like Tamika. As a result, it is apparent that since Ms. Cornwell wanted it more, she should have it".
Case dismissed and please give that photo to the defendant!

A liberal converts
I didn't know any better. I thought the whole world lived in areas where the streets are filthy, aggressive street behavior is allowed because the perps are victims of capitalism, and where you can easily get mugged walking down a street or eating in a restaurant at noon. (By the way, with the Left in charge, expect gangs, crime, indoctrination of 5 year olds and general anarchy to be coming soon to a neighborhood near you.)Given that the media is pretty much censored (good luck finding a conservative book in your local "independent" book store or hearing a Republican speak anywhere), you didn't know that a party of grown ups even existed that didn't advocate screaming at others as the preferred mode of communication. So to my dear Robin, apologies for what I put you through, what I deprived you of, and my pledge to do better.Cousin Joe, Sam, et al, you may be wondering how I did a l80 in 1 1/2 years. How did I go from a rabid, sanctimonious liberal whom you steadfastly avoided at family gatherings to a fan of Limbaugh, Hannity, and Savage? Recovery encourages us to share our story, so here's mine:In February of 2008, I saw a new client, a bright and sensitive young woman who came in looking like she just escaped a war zone. In some ways she had; she had innocently shared with others at her job that she voted for Hillary rather than Obama. Immediately she was being targeted for abuse that put her in fear for not only her job, but her life.We both suddenly became aware that something had grown really dark in the Democratic Party. I started hearing about many other incidents where loyal Democrats were being physically and emotionally threatened for supporting Hillary. A woman in Berkeley had her front window broken because it displayed a poster of Hillary. Randi Rhodes, an Air America talk show leftist, called Hillary a f______ witch. (Rhodes was recently promoted to a national talk radio show, illustrating another disturbing trend: the deafening silence about what Rush Limbaugh has dubbed the new "thug-ocracy.)An acquaintance had her car broken into, and the only item stolen was a NoObama bumper sticker. A South Park episode featured an episode where a nuclear weapon was being aimed at Hillary's genitals. My local greeting card store sold very flattering cards about Obama, insulting ones about Hillary, and a Hillary "nutcracker." When I complained, the young male manager literally laughed in my face.Things went from bad to worse when Sarah Palin entered the scene. When Geraldine Ferraro ran for Vice President, there was no debasement of her character, no sexual threats. But with Palin, a full scale "wilding" ensued that chillingly reminded me of the random sexual attacks on women by gangs of men in New York. She was called every vile name in the book by both male and female liberals.Actress Sarah Bernhardt hoped a gang of black males would rape her. When Palin's church was torched with children inside, the press was missing in action (somehow I imagine the press would have been all over this if Obama's church were torched). Not only was the misogyny disgusting, but the classism was abhorrent. The Democrats, by ridiculing Palin's voice and her education, were acting like arrogant snobs. The party had changed, I had changed, and the differences looked irreconcilable. The final straw for me was when a close friend flew into a rage at me when she learned I wasn't supporting Obama. The political became personal when she began impugning my character. Worse yet, she tried to intimidate me into changing my mind by threatening to dump me.Suddenly a light went on. The peace and love and flower power of the old left was dead and gone (if it even existed to begin with except in my imagination). The Democrats had morphed into a power hungry Thought Police, and I was done with them. My new motto in life: don't PC on me.

In the middle of the worst recession since the '30s, a company wants to invest about $25 million and hire 40 people for a project that would make Cincinnati a link in a global transportation network.
They don't want any tax incentives, there's no rezoning needed, and they would use riverfront property that's been gathering weeds for years.Great deal, right?
Ohio's governor thinks so. So do the Hamilton County commissioners and at least two economic-development groups.
But Cincinnati City Council doesn't think so.
Council members have put up every roadblock they can think of to prevent the Queensgate Terminal project from going through.
Here's the plan: create a barge terminal on the Ohio River where containers of goods could be loaded from rail cars onto barges bound for Asia and elsewhere.
It's being pushed by Bluegrass Farms, a grain processor for farmers that would use the terminal to export Ohio soybeans to China and Japan.
But the city of Cincinnati is sitting on the 31 acres needed and won't let it go, despite an Ohio Supreme Court order.
Council members want to use the land for a still undetermined park or condos. Put the terminal somewhere else downstream, they say.
