Abstain or die in days

If you caught one of your kids smoking a cigarette, would try to educate them why it's important to abstain from that activity.

After all, there are serious health risks associated with smoking.

What it the only risk associated with smoking was this.............
This might be a lot worse than AIDS in the short run because the bacteria is more aggressive and will affect more people quickly. Getting gonorrhea from this strain might put someone into septic shock and death in a matter of days. This is very dangerous. People need to practice safe sex, like always. Anyone beginning a new relationship should get tested along with their partner. The way gonorrhea works, not everyone knows they have it. And with this new strain it's even more important than ever to find out.

Do you think you might want to tell kids about the risk and encourage them to abstain?

Why is it our public health folks simply want to teach wrapping a banana with a condom when this could be the outcome of sexual behavior?

I'm related to Charlemagne?

After all, I am bald.

Seriously, doesn't this story add credence to the claim that humans have only been on earth for 6000 years.........

A genetic survey concludes that all Europeans living today are related to the same set of ancestors who lived 1,000 years ago. And you wouldn't have to go back much further to find that everyone in the world is related to each other.

"We find it remarkable because it's counterintuitive to us," Graham Coop, an evolutionary biologist at the University of California at Davis, told NBC News. "But it's not totally unexpected, based on genetic analysis."

Family researchers have long known that if you go back far enough, everyone with a European connection ends up being related to Charlemagne. The concept was laid out scientifically more than a decade ago. Now Coop and University of Southern California geneticist Peter Ralph have come up with the evidence. Their findings were published on Tuesday in the open-access journal PLOS Biology.

"Anyone alive 1,000 years ago who left any descendants will be an ancestor of every European," the researchers say in an FAQ file about their study. "While the world population is larger than the European population, the rate of growth of number of ancestors quickly dwarfs this difference, and so every human is likely related genealogically to every other human over only a slightly longer time period."

Political targeting

Years ago, I was working with a neighborhood group trying to get 501(c)3 tax exempt status so that we could solicit corporate contributions to purchase land and install ball fields into our neighborhood.

I went round and round with these clowns; spending probably 80 man hours in applications and follow ups.

I was at wit's end when I dropped the words "diversity" and "racial harmony" in my last response to an IRS inquiry.

My application was approved within a week.

So this BS from the feds surprises me not in the slightest.............

The Internal Revenue Service inappropriately flagged conservative political groups for additional reviews during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status, a top IRS official said Friday.

Organizations were singled out because they included the words "tea party" or "patriot" in their applications for tax-exempt status, said Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt groups.

In some cases, groups were asked for their list of donors, which violates IRS policy in most cases, she said.

"That was wrong. That was absolutely incorrect, it was insensitive and it was inappropriate. That's not how we go about selecting cases for further review," Lerner said at a conference sponsored by the American Bar Association.

"The IRS would like to apologize for that," she added.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone's not out to get you.

Life in "Progress" City - Brotherly Love edition

Here's what hilarious.

A kindergartner eating a gun out of a pop tart will be suspended longer than any of these clowns.

What difference does it make?

Do recognize the following names?

John Mein?
Cleo Noel Jr.?
Rodger Davies?
Francis Melroy?
Adolph Dubs?

These are the five ambassadors assassinated over seas prior to the assassination of Christopher Stevens? Now we have six.

I'm still just appalled that the mainstream media thinks this is a non story. That it's just a political play by those pesky republicans.

Let's address the issues.

Why would the state department allow one of their own to be in area with a security detail about the size of the Canadian consolate?

Why anyone hold up any attempt at a rescue mission? For crying out loud they had the ability to float an armed drone over the area and a few missiles could have pushed back the assault.

Doesn't it seem odd that the only person in jail is a man who had nothing to do with the assault? Who issued the order to arrest that guy?

The media seems to have no problem with an administration who sacrificed an ambassador and seems to have little interest in bringing the responsible parties to justice.

For years, I had to hear the name Valerie Plame thrown around when it came to security lapses. Of course we now know that the Busies had nothing to do with her outing and no one ended up dead in the process.

The four guys who died that night and their families deserve better.

Life in "Progress" City - Detroit edition

Whenever, I'm in a situation to discuss politics with a liberal, I always confront them with the question, "if liberalism is so wonderful, why is Detroit such a shithole?"

Immediately, they almost always want to cast me as some sort of racist. When I offer to choose any other democratic/liberal run city state and/or country, they usually just run and hide.

But seriously, I consider myself above average in intelligence, no genius. But when I look over the terrain of all things liberal, they are usually flaming dumps.

And Detroit is the king..............

Detroit’s emergency manager says the city is bleeding much more red ink than originally thought.

That’s what Kevyn Orr told WWJ City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas in an exclusive one-on-one interview.

“The situation is severe,” Orr said. “It’s worse that we originally thought. It ain’t good.”

With just 39 days under his belt, Orr is already putting the final touches on a draft of his 40-plus page financial report, which must be submitted to the state on Monday.

“I’ve been spending virtually every day from March 25 when I got here, looking at the city’s financials. This is an emergency. I’ve got 16 and three-quarters months to deal with it,” he said. “This is truly a financial emergency and we need to move with speed because frankly, we can’t be here in the same position next year.”

So how ignorant is a liberal when they can actually witness the morass of all things they've created and still decide it's a good idea?

Life in "Progress" City - Trenton edition

Or why you should always have access to a gun.............

Police officials are examining the response to a 911 call Sunday night that left a city man struggling with an intruder at his building without any officers arriving.

Dan Dodson said it was 20 or 30 minutes before two officers eventually arrived in response to his wife’s calls to police telephone numbers.

“We’re looking into it to determine if the proper protocols were followed,” Lt. Steve Varn said yesterday evening.

Yesterday, Dodson said he was deciding where to buy a baseball bat in case someone else was able to slip into his home. He believes one of the two tenants who live in apartments of his building on the 300 block of South Broad Street accidentally left the front door ajar, which allowed a drunken and belligerent man access to the vestibule of the apartment unit Dodson shares with his wife and 17-month-old son. The man gained access about 10 p.m., he said.

Good luck with that bat when the next guy is armed.......

Slavery?

I probably wouldn't agree with Lauryn Hill on the color of the sky.

But I can get with her on this......

Grammy-winning singer Lauryn Hill stood in federal court Monday and compared her experience in the music business to the slavery her ancestors endured before a judge sentenced her to three months in prison for failing to pay about $1 million in taxes over the past decade.

“I am a child of former slaves who had a system imposed on them,” Hill said before U.S. Magistrate Madeline Cox Arleo. “I had an economic system imposed on me.”

Hill, who started singing with the Fugees as a teenager in the 1990s before releasing her multiplatinum 1998 album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” pleaded guilty last year to failing to pay taxes on more than $1.8 million earned from 2005 to 2007. Monday’s sentencing also took into account unpaid state and federal taxes in 2008 and 2009 that brought the total earnings to about $2.3 million.

So let me make sure I have this right. Someone confiscates the wealth I earned, from a process I didn't agree to, to benefit someone else.

If that isn't slavery or some form of indentured servitude, I don't know what is.

Once upon a time this used to be news

You may have seen this photo in the past six months. Unfortunately, if your news consists of the NY Times and/or the Washington Post, chances are you haven't seen it at all.

Meet Chris Stevens. He was the US ambassador to Libya, when a group of terrorist attacked and killed him.

Ambassadors used to be a big deal. But according to the Washington Post and the NY Times, Stevens here is simply political chum........ the after birth of a political squabble.

It also used to be that media types would ask salient questions of the administration like "It's been 8 months since this guy was assassinated, who the hell is responsible".

Seriously, if you ever wanted proof that the media was biased, no check that, in the tank for all things liberal this story is it. It's like Tass covering this story during the Andropov administration.

Who did they vote for? #101

More Ohio voting fraud. That brings the derelicts in Hamilton County to six.

Three people were indicted Tuesday on voter fraud charges.
Margaret Allen, 64, is accused of requesting an absentee ballot for Ohio although she has lived since 2009 in Florida.
Ernestine Strickland, 84, is accused of registering to vote and voting by absentee ballot in Ohio although she lives in Tennessee and has never lived in Ohio.

Andre Wilson, 49, is accused of registering to vote and casting an absentee ballot using a fictitious Ohio address.

So are these shitheads tea partiers hoping to tilt the scales towards Romney or did they vote for Obama?

Who did he vote for?

Meet Ariel Castro

Why is he in the news................

Three girls who were abducted more than a decade ago have been found alive in the basement of a house in Ohio - where they were apparently held captive in chains.

Amanda Berry, 26, and Gina DeJesus, 23, and Michelle Knight, 32, escaped from the Cleveland house just a few miles from the city where they disappeared.

The extraordinary rescue came after a neighbor heard Amanda, who went missing at the age of 16, screaming for help when their captor left the house.

Ariel Castro, 52, has been arrested and is in police custody in connection with the kidnapping case along with his two unnamed brothers, who are 50 and 54.

So in the past election, did this guy pull the chain for Obama or Romney?
