Follow the money

During the Obamacare debate, I would occasionally talk about healthcare with someone who would spout off about how high health insurance rates were.

Of course, they believed that the evil insurance companies were simply ripping off policy holders.

When I would proclaim that insurance companies just didn't make that much money you could just watch the jaws drop.

How do you know that health insurance companies don't make money.

It's simple. If there was a lot of money to be made, more insurance companies would be getting into the business. You don't think guys like Warren Buffett would pass up an easy paycheck do you?

Instead this is what you're seeing in the business......................

Aetna Inc. said it would stop selling individual health insurance policies in California next month, and nearly 50,000 existing policyholders will have to find new coverage by January.

The company's announcement Monday comes a month after it opted not to participate in California's new state-run insurance market for consumers, a key component of the new federal healthcare law.

Aetna was a distant fourth in the state's individual health market with a 5.2% market share in 2011, according to Citigroup data. Anthem Blue Cross, Kaiser Permanente and Blue Shield of California dominate that business with a collective 87% market share in the state.

Aetna said it would continue to sell health plans in California to small and large employers as well as offer products related to Medicare, dental and life insurance. A company spokeswoman said it was "fully committed to serving the needs of our 1.5 million members in the state."

The company said it expected to have about 49,000 individual policyholders in the state by December. Regardless of its decision, it estimated that up to 30% of those customers would seek other insurance through Covered California, the state-run health exchange that opens Jan. 1.

Who did he vote for? #561

Normally, these blog posts are reserved for various derelicts who have committed some inane or ridiculous crime or some sort of other act of idiocy.

However, this crime is not of a humorous nature but it seems to me that if this were a republican appointee, we would have heard about it a thousand times over already.........

Prosecutors on Monday laid out their case in court. They say on June 5th, the suspect, Paul Mannina, arrived at his female friend and co-workers home.

She says once inside, Mannina came up behind her shocked her with a stun gun, maced her and beat her so badly he shattered bones in her face. He also ripped her clothing off, authorities say.

Initially, the victim told police she did not remember who attacked her. But within a couple days, she acknowledged it was a man she had worked with for more than two decades.

The victim's husband was in court Monday. Prosecutors say his wife pleaded with Mannina not to kill her. She said suddenly he ended his assault said to her that he had lost control and left.

Mannina and the victim worked together at the Department of Labor. He was a lawyer on the fourth floor in the solicitors department. The alleged victim invited the longtime co-worker whom she acknowledges had a crush on her over for coffee.

So in the last election did this idiot vote for Obama or Romney?

Why I'm a conservative

I don't think there's anything that tugs on my emotions more than these situations.......

The owner of Cosmic Pizza in Hartwell was mortally wounded Saturday night within earshot of his wife and three young children, neighbors say.

Cincinnati police said Richard Evans, with multiple gunshot wounds, was found outside the pizza shop near Woodsdale Avenue and Vine Street after a robbery attempt on Saturday.

Neighbor Margot Madison dialed 911 after Evans’ wife waved down her car right after the shooting. Madison took care of the three children immediately after the robbery attempt. She said the children know what happened, but it hasn’t sunk in.

“I don’t think they understand ... (the 8-year-old son) said ‘Somebody shot my daddy,’” she said.

Evans’ wife told Madison a man came into the store claiming he’d ordered a pizza. The shooter aroused Evans’ suspicion by trying to get into a back area, prompting Evans to tell him the area was closed. The shooter then reached over the counter, trying to grab money from the cash register.

Another neighbor, Bill Wesley, a 58-year-old factory worker, was inside his home when he noticed police out front. He came outside and saw police comforting his dying friend.

Evans died on Wesley’s front lawn.

I'm going to go out on a limb here. The pile of excrement who committed this crime probably has a rap sheet the length of a football field. Instead of inflicting pain on a hard working family on Father's Day, he should have been behind bars for other crimes.

But it wasn't a pack of conservatives who let this guy out. It was a bunch of bleeding heart liberals who wanted to give this piece of shit another try at working in a civilized world.

And this guy wasn't committing these crimes out here in Redville where he would have been blasted to the hell he belongs in. Instead, liberals unleashed this animal back into their own communities. Victimizing the least of us.

As I've said on this blog a hundred times. I'm not a conservative for me. I live in a low crime area and our community will work to keep it that way. I'm a conservative for guys like Richard Evans.....workin' schleps trying to make a buck in a tough world.

And if conservatives like me would have been in charge of the "Progress" City of Cincinnati, this douche bag would never have been able to make victims out of the least of us..... He would have been in jail.

When he gets arrested, we'll find out how right I am.

May God bless Richard Evans and his family.
