2 arraigned in deaths of Forest Grove sisters

2 arraigned in deaths of Forest Grove sisters: 2 arraigned in deaths of Forest Grove sisters

The science is settled.........

Except when it isn't.......

Global warming has been temporarily 'paused' according to a group of scientists, who attribute this interlude to climate fluctuations and a more restrained sun.

No shit? Who would have thought that the sun would have some impact on global warming?

But apparently there are other things that impact the climate as well.

The first is that global temperatures, which rose significantly in the 1990s, have only risen very slightly since 1998 - which has been used by sceptics to question climate change and the models used to measure it.

However, climate fluctuations such as El Niño and its counter-phenomenon La Niña have been shown to have caused the high in 1998 and following cooler years respectively. Climate models cannot predict when exactly these fluctuations will happen.

The other reason for the lower temperatures is weak solar irradiance. As well as fluctations in the climate, changes in the intensity of solar irradiance have been showing unusual patterns. The researchers also say that volanic eruptions, such as Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland in 2010, "have increased the concentration of floating particles (aerosol) in the atmosphere, which has further weakened the solar irradiance arriving at the Earth's surface".

So wait, you mean that El Nino's, La Nina's, also have an impact on climate as well?

But you can't figure what the impact is, but you are certain that humans have the most impact?

And you call me a denier?

I've got an question. Since apparently the science is settled. Why is the government spending resources investigating something that's "settled"?

I'll bet if the funding gets cut off, things will be less "settled"

Another must read

Mark Steyn on the militarization of the police............

The most basic problem is that we will never know for certain what happened. Why? Because the Ferguson cruiser did not have a camera recording the incident. That's simply not credible. "Law" "enforcement" in Ferguson apparently has at its disposal tear gas, riot gear, armored vehicles and machine guns ...but not a dashcam. That's ridiculous. I remember a few years ago when my one-man police department in New Hampshire purchased a camera for its cruiser. It's about as cheap and basic a police expense as there is.

Who lost the cities?

A must read from Kevine Williamson from NRO.

Money passage..........

The more progressive the city, the worse a place it is to be poor and/or black. The most pronounced economic inequality in the United States is not in some Republican redoubt in Texas but in San Francisco, an extraordinarily expensive city in which half of all black households make do with less than $25,000 a year. Blacks in San Francisco are arrested on drug felonies at ten times their share of the general population. At 6 percent of the population, they represent 40 percent of those arrested for homicides. Whether you believe that that is the result of a racially biased criminal-justice system or the result of higher crime incidence related to socioeconomic conditions within black communities (or some combination of those factors) what is undeniable is that results for black Americans are far worse in our most progressive, Democrat-dominated cities than they are elsewhere. The progressives have had the run of things for a generation in these cities, and the results are precisely what you see.

Jason Riley on Ferguson

Meet Amanda Curtis

Do what the cops tell you

Years ago, I was at a party that was starting to get out of hand.

I was watching something on TV with my buddies and a cop walked in a yelled "everyone under 18 get the hell out of here right now".

That was all the warning I needed.

Unfortunately, as I was heading out the door, some ass hole behind me started bitching about private property, pigs and rights.

I wish I knew what happened to that guy because the last I saw him he was on the ground eating carpet fiber.

Me?  I walked away without a problem.

As I get older, I feel more like Kevin Kline bitching out William Hurt in the Big Chill for disrespecting the cop who pulled him over.

I haven't posted on the Ferguson dust up because I don't know that happened that day.........Just like every one of the talking heads who have an opinion on this event.

But it's following a similar pattern to all the other events like this.

Media puts out unconfirmed reports. People jump to their respective sides.

The Bobblehead Reverends show up and make things even more polarized.

Eventually, this cop will face some show trial but because the witnesses have been tainted by their prejudices, multiple investigations contradicting each other and media attention, there will be no ability to prosecute this cop which will start a mini riot still to come.

The moral to the story, do what the cop tells you and you walk away.
