More work needs to be done to keep young Americans from using tobacco, including creating smoking bans and increasing taxes on tobacco products, the U.S. Surgeon General’s office said in a report released Thursday.Here's an idea.Almost one in five high school-aged teens smokes, down from earlier decades, but the rate of decline has slowed, the report said.
It says it’s particularly important to stop young people from using tobacco because those who start smoking as teenagers can increase their chances of long-term addiction. They also quickly can experience reduced lung function, impaired lung growth, early heart disease and other health problems like asthma.
Let's make it illegal for teens to buy cigarettes! Oh, you mean it already is?
OK let's increase the prices of cigarettes through increased taxes! Oh a pack of cigarettes costs costs over $5 a pack, which is comprised of taxes in excess of $3 a pack?
But hey, it's government and like the definition of insanity, let's do more of the same and expect a different result

As with tobacco, alcohol, guns, wall street corruption, drugs, and many other things the left blames for societal ills, there are already laws in place that are designed to curb their negative effect. the problem is that the laws are not followed and they are not enforced. Yet they seem to think adding more laws will solve everything.
