Are Cincinnatians ready to drive their cars in for an E-Check?

Nearly four years after the widely unpopular auto-emissions test - dubbed E-Check - was waived for Hamilton, Butler, Clermont and Warren counties, there's a chance the anti-pollution program may resume in Cincinnati - and be required for the first time in central Ohio.

Ohio environmental officials testified Wednesday in Washington that E-Check, wider use of low-RVP - short for "Reid vapor pressure" gasoline - and other anti-pollution programs may have to be reinstated in Southwest Ohio and a six-county region that includes Columbus to meet federal air-quality standards.

People loved it so much we'll bring it back.

Now that's what I call responsive government; will of the people! Viva la Revolucion!!!!!

The Billary still lives

As I've said many times before, The Billary, like Freddy Kreuger will never be over until they take simultaneous silver bullets to the heart.

Will Hillary outsmart Obama and take the nomination at the last minute?

Many of us familiar with Hillary Clinton's approach to achieving her goals refused to believe that she ever gave up all hope of winning the nomination and the presidency. Her words and actions on the subject of the convention itself always left the door open for a return, should Obama falter or suffer some calamity.

Her artful evasions were enough to lull journalists and (more importantly) Obama and his supporters into the presumption of inevitability. No further rumblings of a mass protest in Denver should the first black candidate be denied his rightful due were heard. After all, he received enough publicly expressed support from super delegates to put him over the top. And he won the popular vote in the primaries, we were assured, lending legitimacy to the super delegates who voiced their support.

Everyone presumed the presumptive nominee was a lock.

Now there are a few signs that Hillary may be making her move.

- Blogger Patterico alludes to the Hillary Clinton campaign burning up the phone lines to the super delegates.

- Bill Clinton told ABC News, "I am not a racist" and contended the race card was played against him. Even when prompted in the same interview to state that Obama was ready for the Presidency, he did not deliver.

- Hillary's PUMA ( short for "Party Unity My A--.") supporters in Denver and nationally plan a rally at a Denver park during the convention.

- ABC news reported yesterday that Hillary Clinton does not rule out putting her name in nomination,contradicting earlier press reports.

Maybe they can use Invesco field for a giant pay for view cage match between the two. It might make for a political convention worth watching.

The Billary never dies

In a Freddy Kreuger like political life, You can't kill the The Billary with a stabbing, some gun shots, a good hit with flame thrower and a toss off the building.

Or in this case, maybe it's her supporters.

Big news folks - it looks like our efforts in contacting those Superdelegates are starting to pay off, so keep on writing to them (ok, maybe Donna B's a waste of time). There are unconfirmed reports, based on phone banking efforts to reach out to Super Ds, that eight previously Obama SDs expressed that, given the opportunity, they would vote for Hillary at the convention. I heard about an interview Will Bower of PUMA did recently, where he said delegates are starting to say they'll vote for Hillary in Denver if the DNC did the right thing and ran an open and fair convention. That means a roll call vote with Hillary's name put into nomination, and on the ballot. So I shot an email to Bower to ask him where he got that info from, and here's what he sent me regarding the efforts of a friend of his "A large phone banking effort to the super d's combined with Obama's flips and poor presumptive nominee performance, etc have yielded doubts within the super delegates, enough that 3 elected and 5 DNC members have confided that should they have the opportunity to do so, they will vote for Hillary." Maybe this is why BHO and the Toxic Trio are pushing so hard to keep Hillary off the roll call ballot eh? I've been wondering what they're so afraid of now it looks like we have part of the answer.

I think Politico may have stumbled upon one or two reasons why the Supers are starting to take a fresh look at Hillary. The above news paints this article in a whole new light for me. MassLib touched upon all this in an earlier diary today re BHO being a PUMA but I thought this was worth another rant. The folks on the Hill (aka Super delegates) are getting pissed at BHO for the lack of effort on his part when it comes to fundraising, coordination and support theyre getting in their own bid for re-election etc. Todays Politico has the story After a brief bout of Obamamania, some Capitol Hill Democrats have begun to complain privately that Barack Obamas presidential campaign is insular, uncooperative and inattentive to their hopes for a broad Democratic victory in November. They think they know whats right and everyone else is wrong on everything, groused one senior Senate Democratic aide. They are kind of insufferable at this point. From a total lack of effort re fundraising for Dems in town-ticket races, to little or no heads-up when he turns up in their district, theyre feeling more than a bit dissed and ignored by our presumptuous nominee.

You keep dreamin' that dream.

Has Obamamania killed The Billary?

It's been 9 primary victories in a row.

That would end the political life of a mere mortal. But we're talking about The Billary, the Freddy Kreuger of politics.

Those victories amount to no more than a few gun shot wounds, a stabbing in the eye, torching and throwing The Billary off a 10 story building. That would kill every other politician but The Billary is still flinching.

One has to wonder, if Che Obama is the only pol able to finally kill off The Billary, does that make him super human? It might.

It might also give poor Michelle the second thing she can be proud of in her adult life.
