This is easy to explain. Democrats always, always, always base their success on selling the idea of American suckiness. Americans are just beginning to learn that democrats, and their church of liberalism, is presicely what makes the sucky parts sucky. The public hasn't had this mood since, oh, about 1979. Obama is basically just Jimmy Carter with a streak of condescention.
