Eighty-six
percent of voters who say they voted for Barack Obama in 2008 are
backing Obama again this year, a smaller proportion than the 92% of
2008 John McCain voters who are supporting 2012 Republican candidate Mitt Romney. Nine percent of 2008 Obama voters have switched to supporting Romney this year, while 5% of McCain voters have switched to Obama.
OK. It's easy to wrap your mind around the fact that Obama candidate you voted for in 2008 didn't turn out to be the president you hoped and changed for. But under what scenario would a person who voted for McCain in 2008 vote for Obama in 2012?
I'm thinking that if you voted for McCain in '08 you probably didn't like Obama to begin with (include me in that group).
If you changed your vote from McCain -08 to Obama - 12 you think that he's stewarding the economy well? What gives? It's not like conservatives are going to vote for Obama in 08, 12, 16, or ever. I just can't see how moderates who would have voted for McCain in 08 would prefer the track record of Obama these past four years over another moderate?
Gary Harrington, the Oregon man convicted of collecting rainwater and snow runoff on his rural property surrendered Wednesday morning to begin serving his 30-day, jail sentence in Medford, Ore.
“I’m sacrificing my liberty so we can stand up as a country and stand for our liberty,” Harrington told a small crowd of people gathered outside of the Jackson County (Ore.) Jail.
Several people held signs that showed support for Harrington as he was taken inside the jail.
Harrington was found guilty two weeks ago of breaking a 1925 law for having, what state water managers called “three illegal reservoirs” on his property. He was convicted of nine misdemeanors, sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined over $1500 for collecting rainwater and snow runoff on his property.
The guy screwed up. He should have committed welfare and voter fraud. Then he could have paid to have water trucked in.
When questioned by cops, Jenkins denied pushing his mother, but admitted that he “did rub dog defecation on her face because she yelled at him,” investigators noted.
The confrontation between Jenkins, pictured in the adjacent mug shot, was apparently prompted by his mother’s refusal to provide him with a shot of vodka.
So in the 2012 presidential election will William be punching the chad for President Obama or the Challenger, Mitt Romney.

The biggest threat to special state accounts is budgetary raids, not
sloppy accounting or hidden surpluses. Legislators have grabbed billions
of dollars from these independent funds to plug fiscal holes elsewhere.
But the Legislature should start crafting honest budgets instead of
running up debts and imperiling supposedly self-supporting programs.
The
state’s special funds have drawn public attention since the state’s
announcement last month of a nearly $54 million hidden surplus in the
Department of Parks and Recreation. That news emerged after the state
had threatened to close state parks to save money.
Californians
fill these special funds, which are separate from the state’s general
fund, through fees dedicated to specific programs. The fee on bottled
drinks, for example, goes toward the cost of recycling bottles and cans.
These special funds account for a sizable share of state spending:
$39.4 billion this fiscal year, compared to the $91.3 billion general
fund budget.
A hidden stash of special fund money does signal a
disturbing fiscal carelessness. But a report issued last week by the
Department of Finance also suggests recklessness in the handling of this
money. The document shows that the state’s general fund owes $4.3
billion to hundreds of special funds across state government. Four years
ago, the general fund owed only $749 million to the special funds, but
the borrowing snowballed as the economy melted.
Camden, New Jersey, has long been one
of the most dangerous places in America, but recent police cuts
combined with the highest unemployment rate in New Jersey have made the
city even deadlier.
This year there have been 39 murders in the city of 77,000 -- on pace to break the all-time record set in 1995.
In
2011, the murder rate was ten times than that of New York City and 30
percent higher than New Orleans, Louisiana, the most dangerous large
city in the nation.
Camden was once a bustling industrial
town but drugs and alcohol abuse now run rife in an area that is
economically deprived. More than half of all children live below the poverty line.
The city finds itself in the midst of
a drug war as unemployed young men with nothing to lose battle for
territory across the city.

Camden has historically been a stronghold of the Democratic Party. Voter turnout is very low; approximately 19% of Camden's voting age population participated in the 2005 gubernatorial election.[60]

People retiring today
are part of the first generation of workers who have paid more in Social
Security taxes during their careers than they will receive in benefits
after they retire. It's a historic shift that will only get worse for
future retirees, according to an analysis by The Associated Press.
Previous
generations got a much better bargain, mainly because payroll taxes
were very low when Social Security was enacted in the 1930s and remained
so for decades.
"For the early generations,
it was an incredibly good deal," said Andrew Biggs, a former deputy
Social Security commissioner who is now a scholar at the American
Enterprise Institute. "The government gave you free money and getting
free money is popular."
From the street, the two decomposing bodies were nearly invisible,
concealed in an overgrown lot alongside worn-out car tires and a moldy
sofa. The teenagers had been shot, stripped to their underwear and left
on a deserted block.
They were just the latest victims of foul
play whose remains went undiscovered for days after being hidden deep
inside Detroit's vast urban wilderness - a crumbling wasteland rarely
visited by outsiders and infrequently patrolled by police.
Abandoned
and neglected parts of the city are quickly becoming dumping grounds
for the dead - at least a dozen bodies in 12 months' time. And
authorities acknowledge there's little they can do.
"You can shoot
a person, dump a body and it may just go unsolved" because of the time
it may take for the corpse to be found, officer John Garner said.
The
bodies have been purposely hidden or discarded in alleys, fields,
vacant houses, abandoned garages and even a canal. Seven of the victims
are believed to have been slain outside Detroit and then dumped within
the city.
It's a pattern made possible by more than four decades
of urban decay and suburban flight. White residents started moving to
burgeoning suburbs in the 1950s, then stepped up their exodus after a
deadly 1967 race riot. Detroit's black middle class followed over the
next two decades, leaving block after block of empty homes.
Over
time, tens of thousands of houses deteriorated. Some collapsed, others
were demolished. Empty lots gave way to block-long fields.
How is it that after voluminous reports of a sluggish economy, "journalist" continue to be surprised?
The number of U.S. workers filing applications for jobless benefits rose
last week, continuing an uneven pattern that suggests job creation was
likely modest in July.
Separately, factory orders unexpectedly fell in June, the latest sign that the slowing economy is sapping demand.
Initial jobless claims, an indication of
layoffs, increased by 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 365,000 in the week
ended July 28, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists surveyed
by Dow Jones Newswires had forecast 370,000 new applications for jobless
benefits last week.

Of the 31 absentee ballots that have become the focus of an
investigation into possible election fraud in Hialeah, at least one
appears to have a forged signature.
The ballot belonged to Zulema Gómez, 81, who entered a nursing home
five months ago suffering from Alzheimer’s and a brain tumor. On the
ballot’s envelope someone wrote: “The lady is my sister. I sign like
this because she has arthritis + she has difficult signing. Thank you.”
However, her sister, Olga Gómez, said Wednesday that she never wrote
that message. Two weeks ago, she said, Daisy Cabrera took the blank
absentee ballot and promised to go to the nursing home in Miami Springs
and deliver it to Zulema. The sisters have known Cabrera for four
years, when she visited them during the 2008 presidential election to
help them with their absentee ballots.
“She was going to the [nursing] home,” said Gómez, 68. “I don’t know if she actually went, but it’s a lie that I signed that.”
Cabrera could face serious charges if it is established that she forged the signature on the ballot.
Last week, Cabrera, a well-known “ballot woman,” or boletera, in
Hialeah, was detained and questioned while carrying a dozen ballots
while she rode in a Toyota Camry driven by Matilde MartÃnez. A day
before, she had taken 19 ballots to a post office in Hialeah, not
knowing she was being watched by detectives from the Miami-Dade Police
Department’s Public Corruption Unit.

I knew that yesterday was Support Chick-Fil-A day. I chose not to participate because 1) I'm trying to avoid fast food. 2) the nearby Chick-Fil-A is not all that convenient and 3) I knew it would be crowded.
About 7:30 the Gekko's went out to a nearby restaurant and I couldn't figure out why the traffic was so backed up so we went around some back roads to the steak house. After dinner (about 8:30), we went home our usual way and I could not believe that there were cars waiting in the drive thru line three blocks from the store.
The Lovely Mrs. Gekko asked me what promotion Chick Fil A was doing and I told her about the support Chick Fil A day. She couldn't wrap her arms around why people would go to such extremes to support this company.
Here's the deal. This was a tea party rally pure and simple. This whole phenomenon is a result of persecution of a people who's only sin has been to follow the rules and have a conviction of what's right and wrong.
Let's face it. Rahm Emmanuel didn't need to say that Chick-Fil-A didn't adhere to Chicago's values..... it's been implied covertly for generations.
As a result, good law abiding individuals got the message and took their families, their wealth and their values to the suburbs. At least there, you're not persecuted for the simple belief that a government should not sanction gay marriage.

San Bernardino filed for bankruptcy protection on Wednesday citing more than $1 billion of debts and making it the third California city to seek protection from creditors.
The city of about 210,000 residents 65 miles east of Los Angeles
declared a fiscal crisis last month after a report said local
government had tapped out its reserves and projected spending would top
revenue by $45 million in the fiscal year that began on July 1.
The filing, made in the United States Bankruptcy Court, Central California District, states that the city has "more than $1 billion" in liabilities, and estimated that it has between 10,001 and 25,000 creditors.
The Americans With Disabilities Act, passed with bipartisan support in 1990 at the urging of then-President George H.W. Bush, enshrines the notion that every American can and should hold a job regardless of physical or mental limitations. Under the ADA, employers who refuse to hire or promote the disabled may be liable for money damages in federal court. Social Security Disability Insurance, however, pays people who can show that they are too mentally or physically impaired to remain in the labor force. In short, for many workers, SSDI creates a quasi-right not to work. This paradox is getting expensive. SSDI spending has doubled as a percentage of gross domestic product in the last 25 years, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The program paid $128.9 billion to 8.3 million beneficiaries in fiscal 2011, about one-fifth of all Social Security spending. The average monthly benefit is $1,100, slightly less than the average Social Security retirement check, but after two years on SSDI, beneficiaries also get Medicare. Indeed, SSDI added $80 billion to the cost of Medicare in fiscal 2011.
The Obama administration released illegal immigrants who went on to commit more crimes, including charges of 19 murders, 3 attempted murders and 142 sex crimes, the House Judiciary Committee said in a report Tuesday.
All told, the nearly 47,000 illegal immigrants the administration was notified of but declined to deport between 2008 and 2011 under its Secure Communities program had a recidivism rate of 16 percent, the committee said.
They were just part of the nearly 160,000 immigrants — most of them here legally — who were flagged by Secure Communities during the three year period but who were either not eligible to be deported or who the administration decided to release. Those immigrants went on to be charged in nearly 60,000 more crimes, according to the committee and the Congressional Research Service, which issued a report on the matter.
The findings stem from the Obama administration’s Secure Communities program, which was designed to identify immigrants who run afoul of the law and who the administration decides it wants to deport.
As a libertarian, I believe that government has three essential functions at the local level 1) Public Safety (police and fire), 2) Infrastructure (roads and bridges) and 3) securing our borders (national defense and immigration control).

While the country still reels from the acts of one crazed gunman in
Aurora, and politicians [with the help of the MSM] again banging the
drum for new and better gun control laws, one can’t help but wonder why
there is no outrage over the daily slaughter happening on the streets of
Chicago. Like some bad Sam Peckinpah movie, the homicides are in slow
motion. Day in and day out more innocent men , women and children are
being gunned down at a staggering rate.
Six people were shot and five of them died during a bloody 12-hour period between 4 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday, according to Chicago police. Among the dead: two men in their early
30s in a gang-related slaying on the Southeast Side, a 22-year-old
former CPS basketball player who recently committed to a Division 1
school for basketball, a 35-year-old clerk at a West Side gas station
and a 25-year-old man killed in a drive-by attack in the Park Manor
neighborhood…

On Monday July 10th, nine young people were killed and 17 wounded in suspected gang-related violence the Chicago Sun-Timesreported.
Where is the national outrage? With a weekly body count approaching
that of the Aurora tragedy, the MSM must have missed this story.

Ohio and Warren County authorities announced Monday they’ve uncovered a clandestine methamphetamine manufacturing ring.
Last Friday, a Warren County grand jury indicted 10 people on numerous felony drug charges in connection with the case.
Authorities
said they first became aware of the ring in late 2010. They said area
pharmacists gave the initial information about the ring, reporting to
officials that they saw “suspicious behavior involving the purchase of
(the drug) pseudoephedrine.” The drug is a key ingredient in making
methamphetamine. The drug is used to treat allergies, hay fever and
colds.
In July 2011, Morrow police found a secret methamphetamine lab in the village. Another lab was found in Salem Township.
Those
indicted were Susan Wright, 40, of Morrow; Christopher Meece, 36, of
Morrow; Brittany Burke, 21, of Morrow; Zora Kratzer, 57, of Morrow;
Arizona Schearing, 38, of Morrow; Jason Culbreth, 35, of Goshen; Stacy
Garrett, 31, of Milford; Mick Gauden, 27, of Blanchester; Robbie Duncan,
30, of Milford and Charles Burke, 34, of Morrow.
When I buy a pack of pseudoephedrine, I always tell the pharmacist to give me as much as I can get with a visit from a fed.

Mayor Bloomberg is pushing hospitals to hide their baby formula behind locked doors so more new mothers will breast-feed.
Starting Sept. 3, the city will keep tabs on the number of bottles that
participating hospitals stock and use — the most restrictive
pro-breast-milk program in the nation.
Under the city Health
Department’s voluntary Latch On NYC initiative, 27 of the city’s 40
hospitals have also agreed to give up swag bags sporting formula-company
logos, toss out formula-branded tchotchkes like lanyards and mugs, and
document a medical reason for every bottle that a newborn receives.

By resisting almost any change aimed at improving our public schools,
teachers unions have become a ripe target for reformers across the
ideological spectrum. Even Hollywood, famously sympathetic to organized
labor, has turned on unions with the documentary "Waiting for
'Superman'" (2010) and a feature film, "Won't Back Down," to be released
later this year. But perhaps most damaging to the unions' credibility
is their position on sexual misconduct involving teachers and students
in New York schools, which is even causing union members to begin to
lose faith.
In the last five years in New York City, 97 tenured teachers or
school employees have been charged by the Department of Education with
sexual misconduct. Among the charges substantiated by the city's special
commissioner of investigation—that is, found to have sufficient merit
that an arbitrator's full examination was justified—in the 2011-12
school year:
• An assistant principal at a Brooklyn high school made explicit
sexual remarks to three different girls, including asking one of them if
she would perform oral sex on him.
• A teacher in Queens had a sexual relationship with a 13-year old
girl and sent her inappropriate messages through email and Facebook.
If this kind of behavior were happening in any adult workplace in
America, there would be zero tolerance. Yet our public school children
are defenseless.

I always crack up when these business owners think they're smarter and harder working than the next guy. The fact is that those pencil makers didn't do that. It was Obama.

It was obvious to me that the political correctness within the public health entities have been trying to get people to quit eating meat to the detriment of a healthy diet.
So this edict (I mean suggestion) from the USDA only confirmed my hypothesis.
The USDA has retracted its support for an initiative to cut meat from Americans’ Monday diets, caving in to pressure from livestock producers and complaints from a Kansas Senator.
The original plug appeared in the USDA’s internal “Greening Headquarters Update” on Monday, where three paragraphs on the third page mentioned Meatless Mondays, an initiative by Monday Campaigns, Inc.
The update called them a “simple way to reduce your environmental impact.”
The memo went on to say that animal agriculture — beef production in particular — wastes water, fertilizer, fossil fuels and other resources. It also contributes to global climate change, the memo said.
“Because Meatless Monday involves only one day a week, it is a small change that could produce big results,” the newsletter said. “Did you notice that our cafeterias have tasty meatless options?”

Two of my worst business dealings started with individuals who made it a point to tell me they were God fearing Christians.
Since that time I've developed an attitude that if someone has to say it, it's probably not true.
For instance, powerful people do't need to tell you that. They just are. When someone tells you they're powerful, they actually a glorified mail clerk for the truly powerful people.

So Obamacare is going to raise taxes on employers................
Business owners will pay $4 billion more in taxes under President
Obama’s Affordable Care Act (ACA) than the Congressional Budget Office
had previously expected.
“According to the updated estimates, the amount of deficit
reduction from penalty payments and other effects on tax revenues under
the ACA will be $5 billion more than previously estimated,” the CBO
reported today.
“That change primarily effects a $4 billion increase in
collections from such payments by employers, a $1 billion increase in
such payments by individuals, and an increase of less than $500 million
in tax revenues stemming from a small reduction in employment-based
coverage, which will lead to a larger share of total compensation taking
the form of taxable wages and salaries and a smaller share taking the
form of nontaxable health benefits.”
In short, CBO revised the Obamacare tax burden upward by $4 billion
for businesses and $1 billion to $1.5 billion for individual workers.

The fact that all these people who have made Joe Paterno bigger than the football team and the University itself, communicated to the NCAA that someone had to totally wreck the program and the University had no intention of doing it themselves.
The fact that there was even a debate as to whether a freakin statute whould stay up was even more reason the NCAA had to act as aggressively as they did.
I read one quote from a trustee who said that this will diminish his legacy of instilling character in his players.

Let's question the character of one of his players who's judgment dictated that he 1) not stop the rape of a child in progress? 2) when you report it, you don't go to the cops but to THE COACH? and 3) when he continued to see this pedophile on campus never questioned it to the higher ups?
I don't have an opinion one way or the other on Joe Paterno. I gather he was a decent man but even he became obsessed putting his legacy over the protection of a child. When it comes to Joe Paterno this Edmund Burke quote seems to fit.“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
And until the people of Penn State recognize Joe Paterno in that vain, they deserve what they got.
A young woman has died after having a second-trimester abortion at a Chicago-area Planned Parenthood clinic.
Tonya Reaves, 24, died late Friday night, according to a local CBS
television station, of hemorrhage, with a cervical dilation and
evacuation, according to the medical examiner’s office following an
autopsy after the abortion that claimed her life.
CBS Chicago said Reaves died after the abortion she had at 18 S.
Michigan Avenue Planned Parenthood facility. The woman was transported
from the Loop Health Center Planned Parenthood abortion clinic to
Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 11:20
P.M.
I know this sounds callous, but I've never really understood the media's infatuation with shooter boy whack job who kills a bunch of people when there's an Aurora in very major city around this country. It's just called the weekend.
Take last night in Chicago............
Four teens – two 13-year-olds and two 16-year-olds – were shot within
a half hour in the city's Englewood and Gresham neighborhoods on the
South Side, according to police.
The four were among at least 10 people shot overnight in attacks on the city's South and West Sides.
Three
boys, ages 13, 16 and 16, were walking in the 7100 block of South
Loomis Boulevard in the Englewood neighborhood about 11:25 p.m. Saturday
when two others approached them on foot and started shooting. The
13-year-old was shot in the left hand and right shoulder and was taken
to Advocate Christ Medical Center, Chicago Police Department News
Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The weekend’s first fatal shooting happened in the 400
block of North Austin Boulevard, after a man intervened in a domestic
argument between the suspect and a woman, police said. The suspect left
to get a handgun, then returned about 12:50 a.m. on Saturday and opened
fire, striking the man and two other people.
Akil Partee, 19, of the 5900 block of West Lake Street
was dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s
office. A 29-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and was in critical
condition at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. A 20-year-old
man was shot in the buttocks and taken in fair condition to John H.
Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Authorities think the gunman may
have shot the men from a light-colored vehicle.
Another man died after he was shot in the abdomen in
the 4200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue at 1:46 a.m, police said. Pablo
Hernandez, 41, of the 3500 block of South 60th Court in Cicero, was
pronounced dead at Masonic at 3:37 a.m., according to medical examiner’s
office.
About 6 a.m. on Saturday in the 4500 block of South
Wood Street, a 37-year-old man was shot by a man he had apparently been
in a fight with earlier in the morning, police said. The other man
returned to the scene with a semi-automatic handgun and fired several
shots at the victim, police said. The victim was taken to John H.
Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead,
according to police. The shooting may have been gang-related.
At least 21 other people were hurt in shootings on the South and West Sides since about 8 p.m. Friday evening.
The city of Chicago and all of it's "progressive" brethren are caldrons of Aurora's every single night in this country.

If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't
get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, well, it
must be 'cause I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out
there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me
tell you something: There are a whole bunch of hardworking people out
there.
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you
some help. There was a great coach somewhere in your life. Somebody
helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that
allowed you to thrive. Fans invested in teams and teammates. If you’re in the Hall of Fame—you didn’t do that.
Somebody else made that happen. The internet didn’t get invented on its
own. Government research created the internet so that all the companies
could make money off the internet.
The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together.
So Barry (the ball player), you can thank Barack Obama for your induction today. Shit, it got him a Nobel Peace Prize didn't it?
For some time, I've tried to make it a point not to recognize dumbasses who say stupid shit for shock value; knowing that it will get them media attention.

Years ago, sports media quit showing streakers and other idiots who would run on the fields, courts, rinks, etc. to get attention and you know what happened? People quit doing it.
Using the same principle, I won't recognize a derelict who wants to live and/or die in infamy by going on a shooting spree. Of course a bigger, badder and more heinous spree than the established world record.
These people are delusional losers. Why do we insist on plastering their "feats" all over every newpaper and blog site? It just gives the next delusional loser a higher target to pass so they can be the next "Biggest Loser".

But just how little time Mr. Obama has spent working on the economy can be seen in the data contained in the Government Accountability Institute’s analysis:
Throughout the first 1,257 days of his presidency, Mr. Obama has spent just 412 hours in economic meetings or briefings of any kind
In 2012, so far Obama has spent just 24 total hours in economic meetings of any kind
Assuming a six day, 10-hour workweek, Obama has spent less than 4 percent of his total time in economic meetings or briefings of any kind
There were 773 days (72 percent), excluding Sundays, in which he had no economic meetings
Mr. Obama has spent an average of 138 minutes a week in economic meetings.
According to a study published in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, new dog owners spent an average of 130 minutes a week walking their dogs.
The study, which was based upon the president’s official schedule, practically bent over backwards to include anything even remotely akin to an economic meeting. For example, “Obama meets with Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairwoman Inez Tenenbaum” was tallied as an economic meeting. Also included was, “Obama meets with Cabinet secretaries,” which may or may not have dealt with economic issues, counted as well.
The more I hear this petulant, asshole spew this bullshit, the more I think of my classmates from West Elementary School in Lancaster, OH.
Nearly every kid in my class was from a working class family.
We all had the same teachers and familiar enough family backgrounds that you could say that we all started from the same starting line.
Yet I'm sure that if you could rank all the kids by some objective standards, you would probably find that the most successful of our class did some crazy shit......like defer immediate gratification for something better long term.
So instead of knocking up a girlfriend, the successful kids were studying. Instead of rolling a bag of weed into doobies, the successful kids were bagging groceries. Instead of dropping out of high school, the successful kids developed some marketable skills.
I know of one of my classmates from West Elementary who's probably making at least a half a mill a year as a partner in a national accounting firm.
I don't begrudge his success one iota even though we're in the same profession.
Why?
He went to Ohio State and worked his ass off while I was at the University of Cincinnati sleeping through class. .... if I went at all.
He's transferred his family across the country taking positions in Atlanta and other points of origin.... something I never would have ever done.
So how much should Phil pay for the exact same infrastructure that was provided for everyone at West Elementary?
If he's making a half a million a year, he's paying at least 200k in federal, state and local taxes. How much more should he pay for the very f%&*in' teachers and roads and bridges and police/fire departments I had access to?
Conversely, how much more should I pay for the low life piles of shit who were drinking and partying while I was studying for the CPA exam?
I own a business. I pay for those roads, teachers etc. with every gallon of gas I buy, every real estate tax check I cut, and I pay more in taxes and get a hell of lot less in government services than your average Joe.
The fact is that life is a series of forks in the road. You can have the best teachers, roads, bridges, cops etc. but your success (or lack there of) will be completely related to the decisions you make in life. In general, the more you're willing to delay gratification for something bigger later......the more successful you're going to be.
Ernst and Young on the Obamaunist tax plan.............
Allowing tax rates for the country’s highest earners to rise, an idea
endorsed by top Democrats, would have a dire effect on the economic
recovery, according to a new report prepared for business groups that was released Tuesday.
The
study from Ernst & Young found that letting tax rates for the
wealthiest Americans lapse would sap $200 billion and some 700,000 jobs
out of the economy, reduce wages by 1.8 percent and lead to a decrease
in investment.
The consequences of the city’s fiscal crisis took a trashy turn during a hearing Monday night when San Bernardino officials noted garbage pick-up was among the obligations they might not be able to afford after turning their government into a cash-only operation.
CBS2 reporter Jeff Nguyen reports the City of San Bernardino can no longer pay for anything on credit, such as gasoline for its fleet of garbage pick-uptrucks. As a result, taxpayers may be left holding the bag for taking away their trash promptly as early as Wednesday.
“The trash and the streets are not going to be swept,” warned city sanitation worker Jerry Zuniga. “You leave the trash there for too long, it’s going to be health issue.”
They called it Paradise I don't know why You call some place Paradise Kiss it goodbye............
So what does a world without conservatives look like?
Well let's examine a "progressive" biosphere named California............
"I believe that if we're successful in this
election," President Obama told campaign donors in Minnesota last month,
"that the fever may break, because there's a tradition in the
Republican Party of more common sense than that."
Apparently Obama believes that if he wins
this November, Republicans on Capitol Hill will all begin to act like
Chief Justice John Roberts by betraying their conservative beliefs and
signing on to Obama's unprecedented expansion of the federal welfare
state. But what would America look like if the Republican "fever" did
break?
We already know. It would look a lot like the
state of California, where no non-cyborg Republican has been governor
since 1996. Democrats have also enjoyed complete control of the state
legislature since 1997. And they have governed exactly the way you'd
expect Democrats to govern.
Spending has more than doubled, from $45.4
billion in 1996 to more than $92.5 billion today. Income, sales and car
taxes have all been hiked. As a result, California has the most
progressive income tax system in the nation, with seven income tax
brackets, and the second-highest top marginal rate.
Even with all those tax hikes, California's
2012 budget is still $15.7 billion in the red. So what does Gov. Jerry
Brown want to do? Raise taxes again, of course. He has proposed a ballot
initiative that would: 1) raise sales taxes on everyone and 2) raise
incomes taxes on those making more than $250,000 a year (like Obama has
proposed to do nationally). But even this $8.5 billion tax hike would
still leave the state $7.5 billion short. Where will California get that
money? Who knows?
I'm still preaching to the masses about "going Galt".
Why?
Because we have a population of people who think that money just appears magically. Even our president refuses to give credit to the people who really make this country run...........
There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me
-- because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t --
look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You
didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think,
well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart
people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody
else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of
hardworking people out there.
So what if those wealthy Americans just decided that they've had enough wealth and had a three month vacation? What do you think this country would look like?

Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy announced a swathe of new taxes and
spending cuts on Wednesday designed to slash 65 billion euros from the
budget deficit by 2014 as recession-plagued Spain struggles to meet tough targets agreed with Europe.
Rajoy, of the center-right People's Party,
proposed a 3-point hike in the main rate of Value Added Tax on goods and
services to 21 percent, and outlined cuts in unemploymentbenefit and civil service pay and perks in a parliamentary speech interrupted by jeers and boos from the opposition.
"These
measures are not pleasant, but they are necessary. Our public spending
exceeds our income by tens of billions of euros," Rajoy told parliament.
He also announced new indirect taxes on energy,
plans to privatize ports, airports and rail assets, and a reversal of
property tax breaks that his party had restored last December.
San Bernardino on Tuesday became the third California city in less than a
month to seek bankruptcy protection, with officials saying the
financial situation had become so dire that it could not cover payroll
through the summer.
The unexpected vote came at the suggestion of the interim city manager,
who said the city faces a $46-million deficit and depleted coffers.
"We have an immediate cash flow
issue," Andrea Miller told the mayor and seven-member City Council.
Mayor Patrick Morris called the decision, passed on a 4-2 vote, a
"stain" on the city. But he said the only other option was "draconian
cuts" to all city services, including the police and fire departments.
"It means the bills will be paid," said a dejected Morris, who is not a voting member of the council.
The city's fiscal crisis has been years in the making, compounded by the
nation's crushing recession and exacerbated by escalating pension
costs, lucrative labor agreements, Sacramento's raid on redevelopment
funds and a city reserve that is tapped out, officials said.
A new report says wealthy Maryland residents may be moving out due to recent tax hikes – a finding that is sure to escalate the battle over taxing the American rich. The study, by the anti-tax group Change Maryland, says that a net 31,000 residents left the state between 2007 and 2010, the tenure of a "millionaire's tax" pushed through by Gov. Martin O'Malley. The tax, which expired in 2010, in imposed a rate of 6.25 percent on incomes of more than $1 million a year. The Change Maryland study found that the tax cost Maryland $1.7 billion in lost tax revenues. A county-by-county analysis by Change Maryland also found that the state’s wealthiest counties also had some of the largest population outflows. In total, Maryland has added 24 new taxes or fees in recent years, Change Maryland says. Florida, which has no income-tax, has been a large recipient of Maryland's exiled wealthy.
Employees of a Pennsylvania city, who have all seen their salaries cut
to minimum wage as the mayor grapples with budget problems, are hoping a
judge restores their paychecks in full.
Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty cut everyone's pay -- including his own --
on Friday, saying the state's sixth-largest city is broke because the
City Council blocked his proposed tax increase. Doherty, a Democrat,
warned nearly 400 police officers, firefighters and public works
employees about his doomsday plan, prompting a Lackawanna County judge
to order the city to pay full wages to all employees, citing that it is a
violation of their contracts. Hours later, the payday envelopes went
out, and, despite the judge's order, they were light.
“This needs to be resolved," Scranton firefighter and president of the
local firefighters union John Judge told FoxNews.com. "My members are
getting a check for $7.25 an hour. These are people that are the head of
their households. They have mortgages. They have other living costs.
They are now going to have to throw their bills in a hat and randomly
pick what gets paid on time.”
Edward Demase, a Blue Line operator, was in jail for three months on a domestic assault conviction, WCVB-TV reports. He claimed sick leave during the extended absence, and returned to his job after he got out, according to the report.
Denise Rich, the wealthy socialite and former wife of pardoned billionaire trader Marc Rich, has given up her U.S. citizenship - and, with it, much of her U.S. tax bill.
Rich, 68, a Grammy-nominated songwriter and glossy figure in Democratic and European royalty circles, renounced her American passport in November, according to her lawyer.
Her maiden name, Denise Eisenberg, appeared in the Federal Register on April 30 in a quarterly list of Americans who renounced their U.S. citizenship and permanent residents who handed in their green cards.
By dumping her U.S. passport, Rich likely will save tens of millions of dollars or more in U.S. taxes over the long haul, tax lawyers say.
Rich, who wrote songs recorded by Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige and Jessica Simpson, is the latest bold-faced name to join a wave of wealthy people renouncing their American citizenship. Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin gave up his U.S. passport to become a citizen of Singapore, an offshore tax haven, before the company's initial public offering in May.
Nearly 1,800 citizens and permanent residents, a record since data was first compiled in 1998, expatriated last year, according to government figures.

Rich's ex-husband, commodities trader Marc Rich, fled the United States in 1983 when indicted on charges of tax evasion, fraud, racketeering and illegal trading of oil with Iran. They divorced in 1996.
Marc Rich received a presidential pardon in 2001 on President Bill Clinton's last day in office.
Federal prosecutors and Congress investigated the pardon, and in 2002 a House of Representatives committee concluded Denise Rich had swayed the action through donations to the Clinton library and campaign.
Dubbed "Lady Gatsby" by Yachting magazine, Rich owns multiple properties, including a mansion in Aspen, Colorado. She is a frequent habitue of Cannes, Monte Carlo and St. Tropez with celebrities and singers aboard her 157-foot yacht, Lady Joy.
Rich will escape future U.S. taxes but possibly not all current ones. In 2008, Congress imposed an expatriation tax on persons with a net worth of more than $2 million who dump their U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Under the law, those people owe an "exit tax" on their worldwide property, computed at a fair market value the day before they leave. But tax lawyers say the tax can be reduced or avoided by structuring asset holdings through foreign annuities.

Ohio State Coach Urban Meyer dismissed senior linebacker Storm Klein
from the football team on Saturday following his arrest on domestic
violence and assault charges.
Klein pleaded not guilty to the charges on Saturday after being arrested by Columbus police on Friday.
A message seeking comment was left Saturday.
Meyer said in a statement that the charges against Klein "violate the core values of the Ohio State Football Program."
"As
a result, Storm has been removed from the team. It has been made very
clear that this type of charge will result in dismissal. If there are
any changes in the charges, we will re-evaluate his status," Meyer said.
Klein
appeared in Franklin County Municipal Court on Saturday represented by a
public defender. The senior who started 10 games last year was told to
stay away from the person who filed a complaint against him.
Klein is one of several linebackers vying for a starting job with the Buckeyes.
The
university says Klein is a sport and leisure studies major from Newark,
Ohio, who played in 38 games and started 10 times at middle linebacker
last year.

In 2010, influenced by the Tea Party and its focus on fiscal issues, 17 states elected Republican governors. And, according to an Examiner.com analysis,
every one of those states saw a drop in their unemployment rates since
January of 2011.
Furthermore, the average drop in the unemployment rate
in these states was 1.35%, compared to the national decline of .9%,
which means, according to the analysis, that the job market in these
Republican states is improving 50% faster than the national rate.
Since January of 2011, here is how much
the unemployment rate declined in each of the 17 states that elected
Republican governors in 2010, according to the Examiner:
Kansas - 6.9% to 6.1% = a decline of 0.8%
Maine - 8.0% to 7.4% = a decline of 0.6%
Michigan - 10.9% to 8.5% = a decline of 2.4%
New Mexico - 7.7% to 6.7% = a decline of 1.0%
Oklahoma - 6.2% to 4.8% = a decline of 1.4%
Pennsylvania - 8.0% to 7.4% = a decline of 0.6%
Tennessee - 9.5% to 7.9% = a decline of 1.6%
Wisconsin - 7.7% to 6.8% = a decline of 0.9%
Wyoming - 6.3% to 5.2% = a decline of 1.1%
Alabama - 9.3% to 7.4% = a decline of 1.9%
Georgia - 10.1% to 8.9% = a decline of 1.2%
South Carolina - 10.6% to 9.1% = a decline of 1.5%
South Dakota - 5.0% to 4.3% = a decline of 0.7%

On the other hand, the unemployment rate in states that
elected Democrats in 2010 dropped, on average, as much as the national
rate decline and, in some states such as New York, the unemployment rate
has risen since January of 2011.
