If driving a car or cooking JTMs on my gas grill causes global warming, and global warming is detrimental to the welfare of protected polar bears, does that mean Greenpeace or the Sierra Club can sue me?
The Interior Department has decided to protect the polar bear as a threatened species because of the decline in Arctic sea ice from global warming, officials said Wednesday.
Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne scheduled a news conference to announce the action. It comes a day before a court-imposed deadline on deciding whether the bear should be put under the protection of the federal Endangered Species Act.
This is the first time that the Endangered Species Act has been used to protect a species threatened by the impacts of global warming. There has been concern within the business community that such action could have far-reaching impact and could be used to regulate carbon dioxide.

No, it just means they'll legally be able to use a fire extinguisher on your grill. In fact, a city council somewhere will probably encourage it by issuing them a special permit.
I've never had grilled polar bear before but it sounds tasty.
This whole thing is not about regulating carbon dioxide. It's about regulating us. I can already see the day when the government drives a gas guzzling truck from washington to my house to haul off my illegal lawnmower. All in the name of the children of course.
Speaking of children, are the polar bear cubs more tender?
I think a lite marinade of italian dressing, garlic salt and pepper will make those little pups taste so good over the fire.
There is a great deal more I can and will (later) post on this topic. For now, you may find these two posts (and associated sub-links) of interest:
