10 fastest dying cities

Forbes magazine just released their 10 fastest dying cities in the US.

Congratulations Ohio, we have four of them; Dayton, Canton, Youngstown and Cleveland, who takes the numero uno spot.

Just out of curiosity, I thought I would would be a good exercise to look at what party actually runs these cities.

Cleveland - democrats
Youngstown - democrats
Canton - democrats
Dayton - democrats
Detroit - democrats
Flint - democrats
Buffalo - democrats
Springfield MA - democrats
Scranton - democrats
Charleston WV - democrats

WOW! Are you catching the trend here?

But don't you fear, once the state gets that 7 paid sick days law established, businesses will start flocking to Ohio cities like manna from heaven.

The Democrats..... Turning America into a shit hole.... one city at a time.

This should be front page on every paper and lead every newscast in the country, but it will be buried as usual.

Our country is divided between two electoral bases; urban democrats and suburban republicans.

The swing vote in any state wide or national election are the exurban moderates.

In every opportunity, republicans should be bashing the message that a vote for democrats is a vote for urban decay.

For me, it's like preaching to a urinal.

what an idiotic connection! we have mainly followed the economics of the repcons since REAGAN, its a result of REPUBLICAN policies that has created this mess. this corporate facism has destroyed the middle class. the cities mention has experienced a lot of cuts. democrats are guilty of not having any new ideas, but they are not the architects of this mess.

Your astute analysis fails in a couple of ways.

First Plenty of areas in the country are doing quite well under these Reagan Bush republican policies. Of course, they are also governed by republican governors, mayors, etc.

Second, what republican policies are in our inner cities? you can't find a republican to save your life in any of these failing cities, yet you still want to blame them.

This is the type of ignorance and arrogance that dominates "progressive" thinking and contributes to the mess of our cities.

Socialtalker,

What specific republican policy is responsible for the state of the inner city?

I can name a number of liberal policies/solutions responsible for the mess:

1) Tolerance of drugs that started with the counter-culture and has resulted in more than half of all inner city crime and incarceration.

2) Public schools that put the teacher unions first and force the the underprivileged to accept incompetance in the building of their children's future.

3) Welfare, which has destroyed the family.

4) Anti-business policies that chase jobs away from where they are needed most.

5) Subsidized housing which has the effect of concentrating the poor into large pockets of blight.

6) Blame republicans for everything that goes wrong, even though you won't find a republican within 20 miles of any of these inner cities. That way, the democrats can continue to build their monuments of failure unchecked.
