Ohio Republicans for Mississppi

If you've happened to catch the Ted Strickland TV spot where the head of Scott's-Miracle Gro claims to be a republican supporter of Ted Strickland, you'll find this to be a howler........

Mississippi officials are welcoming the addition of dozens of jobs at a former Clorox Co. facility after lawn and garden giant Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. announced plans to invest $17 million to run a plant at the site.

The Mississippi Development Authority said Marysville-based Scotts (NYSE:SMG) has committed to creating a new manufacturing site at the plant in Pearl, southeast of Jackson. From the site, the company will make a number of products sold under its well-known nameplates and create up to 95 full-time jobs.

Mississippi officials said state and local incentives were extended to Scotts as it mulled the site, though details on the value of the tax credits weren’t immediately available Tuesday.

Scotts is one of the 50 largest employers in Central Ohio, with 1,100 workers in the region, according to Columbus Business First research. The company in the year ended Sept. 30 earned $153.3 million on $3.14 billion in revenue.
