Canadian homelessness

Here's an interesting piece on homelessness in Calgary v homelessness in Vancouver.

Vancouver is in B.C., where homeless people can walk through a residential neighbourhood and pluck peaches off trees, the authorities have virtually legalized marijuana, hand out free hypodermic needles to the junkies and built a warm place for them to shoot up heroin under the supervision of medical professionals.

It's where most of the hemp-wearing, macrobiotic, vegan Froot Loops in the country live, which means the only crimes that count are those committed against the environment.

Spark up a crack pipe in front of an elementary school playground and you're a "victim" because you're suffering from an "addiction."

Forget to recycle your crack pipe when you buy a new one?

Now that's just plain wrong.

How is it that the Canadian's have so much passion for their fellow man to provide them with free health care but they don't care enough to provide them with food and shelter?
