Ohioans will pay more to drive, fly a plane, dump trash, have pools inspected and enjoy state parks under Gov. Ted Strickland’s proposed budget released today.I guess Governor Ted must have read Ahnauld's book How to Save Your State From Bankruptcy; A Governor's Guide to chasing residents away.Licenses to sell cigarettes or operate hospices and campgrounds also would cost more under Strickland’s $54.7 billion, two-year budget, which increases 120 state fees to raise $236 million.
The governor also plans to charge tolls on newly constructed highways, and make driving without a seat belt a primary traffic offense, meaning more fines. Ohio police now can ticket seat-belt violations only if drivers are first pulled over for another traffic violation.
Tickets for not using a child booster seat also would double, to $50 or $100, with the higher fine for a repeat offense. Court fees that are tacked onto those fines also would increase. And more than $890 million can be raised by increasing license fees on hospital and long-term care facilities, the governor said.

Gordon, Gordon, Gordon...
Don't you understand that it's all about the teachers. They will be happy for the next two years, so they will campaign for me in 2010. After that I'm taking a well-deserved vacation for the next four years and maybe set up my t-shirt stand on the beach.
Luv,
Guvnuh Ted
