Group: Climate Change Imperils MonumentsThen we get to the story
Rising seas, spreading deserts, intensifying weather and other harbingers of climate change are threatening cultural landmarks from Canada to Antarctica, the World Monuments Fund said Wednesday.
But when you actually get to the World Monument Fund Site and check out each of the sites they claim in the story as being in danger, global warming is not what is putting the sites at risk.
For instance, one site is Falmouth Historic Town, Falmouth Jamaica. The threat; economic and development pressures, not anything related to global warming.
Let's take another, Tutuveni Petroglyph Site, Hopi Tribal Land. The threat, vandalism.
What about one of the sites noted in the article, the Macha Picchu Historic Sanctuary. The threat; uncontrolled tourism and development pressures.
So it's pretty clear to me the AP is just flat out fabricating their "news" report.
I guess it's a good thing the main stream media has fact checkers or we might not that quality, accurate news, unlike the blogs.
