Thank you for not voting

I think it's ridiculous how society shames people to vote.

I'm one of the few people that think too many people vote in the first place. Society should place a "poll tax" on voting based on random civics questions.

Here's how it would work.

You go to the polls. Before the poll worker hands you a ballot, you have to pick out a random question from a box and correctly answer that question.

The types of questions.

Who is our Secretary of State?
If the president dies in office, who will take his place?
Name one justice on the Supreme Court.
Name both of your state's senators.
What percentage does it take to override a presidential veto in Congress?

So if you are one of those people who don't vote because you either, don't care or don't know, I want to thank you for making my vote worth more because I do, in fact, know the issues at hand.

And for you do gooders that think every one should vote..... Could you answer the questions above. If the answer is no, you shouldn't be voting either.

In my opinion only property owners should have the right to vote. While there may be a small group that knows little of the world around them, pure selfish motivation will at least encourage them to vote for candidates that will not wastefully tax and spend, or attack private property and freedom. Democracy is a terrible concept!

I agree, voting to spend other peoples money has unfortunately become the American way.
