I know liberals read this blog because they never hesitate to make a snarky comment about Palin buying a $200.00 pair of shoes or Joe the Plumber being a tax cheat, etc.
So I was somewhat surprised when they didn't jump in on my challenge last week about how much is fair? Not!
As you can see from my previous post, liberals have no idea how much money people actually pay in taxes.
Let's go back to the challenge last week. Joe and Suzie Rich make $250,000 (see the link above for the rest of the fact set) this is how much they pay in taxes.
Federal Income Tax $43,713
FICA $12,090 (matched by their employer)
Medicare $1,813 (matched by their employer)
State Income Tax $12,230
City of Cincinnati Tax $5,250
That's a combined tax liability of $75,096. This doesn't even count real estate taxes, sales tax, school district income tax, etc...
That seems like a lot of money to me.
After you deduct the taxes, this couple has $150,000 left; which seems like it's still a lot of money. Until they start paying mortgages, cars, tuition, groceries, their retirement, etc, etc.
It seems to me that these folks are already shouldering more than their "fair share" of the load.
And yet a liberal would have no problem walking into a bar and expecting this couple to buy them beers, which is the net result of our tax shifts.
