Life in "Progress" City - Brooklyn edition

She’ll have her home back soon.

An elderly swindle victim will finally reclaim her family home thanks to a Queens judge, who on Wednesday told the ex-con who allegedly forged her deed that he has 10 days to move out.

Darrell Beatty, 49, was ordered to vacate the disputed Laurelton Tudor three-bedroom, along with his two sons and their pit bull. If he’s not gone in 10 days, the sheriff’s office will do a forced eviction.

“He’s a squatter,” Queens Housing Court Judge Inez Hoyos said in ordering Beatty to leave the property, which has been in the family of Jennifer Merin, 70, since 1931.

Beatty was in court in a failed bid to stave off eviction. Prosecutors say he filed a fraudulent deed to the home in February, claiming that he, not Merin, was the rightful owner.

How is this guy not in prison for fruad?

You dance with who brought ya'

This headline and byline caught my eye yesterday

Why Middle-Class Americans Can't Afford to Live in Liberal Cities

Blue America has a problem: Even after adjusting for income, left-leaning metros tend to have worse income inequality and less affordable housing.

You can read the article here but let me give you the Cliff notes on the article.

This is what liberalism creates in our cities and it's probably not so much that middle income families can't afford to live there but that they won't.

Most middle class families want to live in class communities with decent schools, low crime and good employment opportunities; all things liberals won't deliver since it pinches all of their constituents.

So this is what you get.

On April 2, 2014, a protester in Oakland, California, mounted a Yahoo bus, climbed to the front of the roof, and vomited onto the top of the windshield.

If not the year's most persuasive act of dissent, it was certainly one of the most memorable demonstrations in the Bay Area, where residents have marched, blockaded, and retched in protest of San Francisco's economic inequality and unaffordable housing. The city's gaps—between rich and poor, between housing need and housing supply—have been duly catalogued. Even among American tech hubs, San Francisco stands alone with both the most expensive real estate and the fewest new construction permits per unit since 1990.

But San Francisco's problem is bigger than San Francisco. Across the country, rich, dense cities are struggling with affordable housing, to the considerable anguish of their middle class families.
Among the 100 largest U.S. metros, 63 percent of homes are "within reach" for a middle-class family, according to Trulia. But among the 20 richest U.S. metros, just 47 percent of homes are affordable, including a national low of 14 percent in San Francisco. The firm defined "within reach" as a for-sale home with a total monthly payment (including mortgage and taxes) less than 31 percent of the metro's median household income.

Who wants to deal with that shit?

I've said it before, San Fransisco spends millions upon millions of dollars on their homeless. My Redville enclave of Maineville OH doesn't spend a penny. Who has the homeless problem?

Think of it in a retail marketing realm. If you want to increase sales of Mountain Dew to young people do you spend your resources advertising on TCM and Fox News or do you spend money on MTV and maybe an internet campaign?

Liberals want to go to dinner parties held by the uber rich while maintaining the facade of helping the poor. Is it any wonder that's what their cities look like?

Ask Maxine Waters

Those racist, sexist, xenophobe, homophobe republicans

Remind me again how republicans are racist when.............

Tim Scott, a black man, wins South Carolina in a rout. I guess all those cross burning tea partiers were too tired to vote against him. BTW Scott got more votes than Mr. Milquetoast Lindsay Graham. How the hell did that happen.

Mia Love, wins in Utah. Jesus, those conservative Mormans must have thought the election was next week.

They're sexist when.........

Moore Capito in WV and Ernst in Iowa won. Couldn't their misogynistic, neanderthal husbands keep them chained in the kitchen?

They're anti Hispanic Xenophobes when.............

Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are kicking ass in the senate and look to be contenders for the GOP nomination two years from now. Is it the Dream Act that keeps the GOP from deporting them?

They're homophobes when..........

Carl DeMaio, an openly gay republican wins. Maybe they're hoping for some gender re-identification.

If you were to listen to the major networks, you would probably believe that all of us white guys would be spending the morning having our traditional victory breakfast at your local country club where we discuss such topics as how we can use our power to hold down blacks, how we can keep our bitches in line, and how we can deport more Hispanics.

Do you think all this might shift that media paradigm? Maybe Chuck Todd might push back when a democrat claims a "war on women", "a war on immigrants" "a war on blacks", "a war on gays"

Don't hold your breath.

The Nostradamus award

Goes to me.

If you go through my archives, you'll see that I prediucted that there's going to be a big difference between health insurance and actual health care.

And now we see what Obamacare has brought us...........

When ObamaCare patients learn their deductible is so high they’re unlikely to get any reimbursement, they often wind up in places like the Denton, Texas Community Care Center.

"There are quite a few, and I saw another one today, where their deductibles are so elevated that they can't afford them," said Dr. Flippo Masciarelli, chief physician at the center, which was designed to treat indigent patients.

Robert Laszewski of Health Policy and Strategy Associates noted, "You're going to the doctor, you're paying (a) premium, and because of this really high deductible, you're not getting any benefits."

The administration pushed insurance companies to keep premiums low, but that also created high deductibles, about $5,000 per person for the least expensive plan, as well as narrow networks of providers.

But most people buy based only on premiums.

Do the Mule

I'm still recovering from last Friday nights Gov't Mule concert at the Taft Theatre.

I've often heard about Springsteen, Gratefull Dead, Allman Brothers shows last near 4 hours.

I've never been to a show that last five, I said five freakin' hours long.

Here's the set list for the Mule show last Friday. 37 songs long.

The show had a tribute to Neil Young. Thankfully I like Neil Young since 29 of the songs were his.

Of course, we then followed up that marathon with a show last night with Zach Deputy and Hot Buttered Rum.

It's gonna take me all week to recover.

Why you should register as a democrat

As I noted in a previous post over the weekend. What do you think is the likelihood of a hardcore postal worker delivering your ballot right into a trash dumpster?

After you read this we'll set the over/under at 90%.

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night may keep postal carriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. But partisan politics, now that may be another matter altogether.

An investigation has been launched into a Neenah postal carrier who allegedly dumped into a recycling bin hundreds of political advertisement mailers from the campaign of Mike Rorhkaste,
Republican candidate for Wisconsin’s 55th Assembly District, Rorhkaste tells Wisconsin Reporter.
Neenah Postmaster Brian Smoot, who was alerted to the incident on Thursday, confirmed there is an ongoing investigation into the matter, and referred Wisconsin Reporter to the Office of the Inspector General for the U.S. Postal Service. OIG representatives there did not return several phone calls seeking comment.
“I am not allowed to comment because it is an active investigation,” Smoot said of accusations that the unidentified mail carrier mishandled the political literature.

Why everyone should be a registered democrat

I just witnessed this headline..........

EARLY VOTING: REPUBLICANS HAVE 10% LEAD

He's my suggestion to every republican out there.

Register as a democrat.

Let's have 100% of all voters registered as a democrat.

I am and I'll tell you why.

1)  If everyone is registered within the same party, states cannot gerrymander congressional districts. The gerrymandering that gives us John Boehner, Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi.

2) Voter manipulation will be less frequent since get out the vote efforts won't be able to distinguish between parties.

3) Polling will be rendered useless if everyone is registered in one party.

4) Think about it. Currently a party can canvass an area they know is heavily democratic and threaten their voters like this veiled threat. During the last presidential election, I had forgotten to sign my ballot and it was sent back for my signature. After it sat on my desk for over a week, I received a call from Sherrod Brown's office, informing me that I needed to sign my ballot and send it in.

I was hopping pissed that a campaign would have access to a) knowledge that my ballot was an absentee b) knowledge as to what was actually wrong with my absentee ballot.

It's total bullshit.

5) You don't think that if the democrats have a list of republican voters, they wouldn't pay some unscrupulous postal worker some money to hand over the absentee ballots to the party so they could pull the republican ballots. It's probably already happened. If you are a registered democrat there's a better likelihood that your vote will be counted.

Sure you probably lose the ability to vote in a republican primary pitting UR A. Loser v. Seymour Butts. But let's face it, isn't it more fun to vote in a democratic primary anyway.

So do your civic duty and change your party affiliation today.

Mother of son killed by illegal: Obama is ignoring us

Pot meet Kettle

After all........who knows better about income disparity than someone out to screw a working guy for his commission........

MSNBC's Donny Deusch has been found guilty by a Manhattan judge of scamming a real estate broker out of a commission.

The judge found that the broker, Edward Petrie, was responsible for finding a buyer for Deutsch's $30 million home in the Hamptons. After Deutsch discovered he knew the buyer, LA hedge funder Howard Marks, MSNBC's Occupy Wall Street cheerleader went behind the broker's back to privately broker the sale and stiff the Sotheby's realtor out of his fee.
The New York Post reports that the judge blasted Deutsch for his "dishonesty and greed":
“This court considers that and refusal to acknowledge [Petrie] as the broker to be marks of dishonesty and greed,” Ramos writes in the Oct. 23 decision awarding Petrie’s employer, Sotheby’s, $1.2 million.“Both characteristics are particularly unbecoming when exhibited by those blessed with great wealth,” the judge scolds.
By some reports MSNBC's Donny Deutsch is worth upwards of $200 million. What isn't in dispute is that the left-wing multi-millionaire publicly embraced Occupy Wall Street and frequently uses his perch at MSNBC to criticize income inequality.
How interesting, then, that when Deutsch had a legal obligation (and opportunity) to transfer less than 1% of his own wealth, he instead chose to cheat and lie.

The war on women

I would think that this would count............

Barely a week after being named the 17th richest member of Congress, liberal firebrand and Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson is refusing to support his estranged wife and their kids, and his wife has turned to government food stamps to support her family, WFTV 9 Orlando reports.

Grayson’s marriage of 29 years dissolved earlier this year when his wife, Lolita Grayson, filed for divorce. A week later, Rep. Grayson asked a court to annul the marriage on the basis of bigamy.

Mr. Grayson is refusing to support his family because he is claiming that she was never divorced from her first husband and therefore their marriage was never legitimate.

Mrs. Grayson told WFTV 9 Orlando she never thought she would be on food stamps or have her kids on the school lunch, because her husband was “the sole provider,” she said. “I don’t have any money at all. He’s been holding all our money for years and years.”

For some reason, if Mitt Romney didn't want to pay for her birth control, he'd be a misogynist.

Who did she vote for? #191

So in the last election to this icon of diversity vote for Obama or Romney?

.............don't know much about the economy

Twenty years from now, will liberals be asking "what ever happened to the jobs where people pumped your gas, bagged your groceries, took your order at McDonald's............."

While fast food workers all over the country are fighting to get paid higher hourly wages, McDonald’s is apparently looking for a bigger solution to their problem.

Various outlets are reporting that McDonald’s is currently testing automated cashiers in the hopes that they will soon roll out all over the country. The machines are touch screen and will enable customer to order and pay for their food without having to wait in line and interact with a live cashier.

Similar machines are already being used in Europe, and now, the automated cashier is being tested at a store in Romeoville, Illinois, according to reports and one Reddit user.

Ask yourself the question, does raising the minimum wage increase the likelihood these machines will be in place?

Liberals........ don't know much about history

It really hasn't been that long ago when the housing market crashed into oblivion because people were lending money to other people who were not ready to buy homes.

But hey, let's not less a valuable history lesson get in the way of liberal nobility.

America needs more low-down-payment loans.

That seems to be the opinion of our government, anyway. The government agencies that drive most of the housing market are pushing for lower down-payment standards on mortgages, easing the 20 percent requirement that has become standard for much of the market.

The Center for American Progress approves: “We shouldn’t obsess about down payments,” said Julia Gordon, director of housing policy. “Research confirms that low-down-payment loans to lower-wealth borrowers perform very well if the mortgages are well-underwritten, safe and sustainable.”

This depends, of course, on what you think “perform very well” means. A low-down-payment loan made to someone with a good credit rating and a low debt-to-income ratio will perform better than a low-down-payment loan made to someone with terrible credit and a lot of debt. But it has a higher default risk than a mortgage made to a similar borrower with an adequate down payment, because when you start out with little equity, you’re apt to find yourself in foreclosure if you get into financial trouble.

One of the principle problems with liberalism is that liberals often fail to connect causation with results.

I tell clients all the time, even though the wealthiest people own their homes, home ownership is not why they are wealthy. Home ownership is a symptom of the things that do create wealth........... time and stability.

This year, I have spent over two thousand dollars on minor repairs, lawn mowers and tools, landscaping, and other projects around my house that will never turn into increased market value. This is money that a person would never spend if they rented.

When most people sell their house, they think "I bought if for X and sold it for Y, hence my profit is Z". But they never calculate the $8000 roof they put on or the $4,000 driveway repair, or the $2,500 hardwood floor they installed into the calculation.

Again, all things that a renter would never have to spend money on.

But liberals would have you believe that as long as you can own a home, your three divorces, four job changes and a felony conviction won't matter, cause you'll be rich.

So let's go ahead and repeat the history that nearly brought our economy to a total collapse.

DNC Chair Stumbles When Asked To Name A Senate Race Obama Is Campaigning In

the real war on women

Lena Dunham would have you believe that if conservative men do buy women birth control, deliver it to their houses, put it on the tongue and stroke their throats for easy swallowing, they must hate women. Watch this video and ask the question, When democrats release a flood of felons who are they most likely to victimize?

Lies, Inc. - Felons released

New records contradict the Obama administration's assurances to Congress and the public that the 2,200 people it freed from immigration jails last year to save money had only minor criminal records.

The records, obtained by USA TODAY, show immigration officials released some undocumented immigrants who had faced far more serious criminal charges, including people charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, drug trafficking and homicide.

The release sparked a furor in Congress. Republican lawmakers accused the Obama administration of setting dangerous criminals free. In response, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said it had released "low-risk offenders who do not have serious criminal records," a claim the administration repeated to the public and to members of Congress.

The new records, including spreadsheets and hundreds of pages of e-mails, offer the most detailed information yet about the people ICE freed as it prepared for steep, across-the-government spending cuts in February 2013. They show that although two-thirds of the people who were freed had no criminal records, several had been arrested or convicted on charges more severe than the administration had disclosed.

Lies, Inc. - Global Warming

John Coleman, who co-founded the Weather Channel, shocked academics by insisting the theory of man-made climate change was no longer scientifically credible.

Instead, what 'little evidence' there is for rising global temperatures points to a 'natural phenomenon' within a developing eco-system.

In an open letter attacking the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, he wrote: "The ocean is not rising significantly.

"The polar ice is increasing, not melting away. Polar Bears are increasing in number.

"Heat waves have actually diminished, not increased. There is not an uptick in the number or strength of storms (in fact storms are diminishing).

"I have studied this topic seriously for years. It has become a political and environment agenda item, but the science is not valid."

Lies, Inc. - unemployment data

The city known as America’s story factory is making up Census data.
In the latest allegation of The Post’s exclusive probe into fishy goings-on at the Census Bureau, a new whistleblower says workers in the Los Angeles region have been manipulating economic data.
Contact information for the veteran Census worker — who reached out to me by e-mail recently and whom I interviewed by phone — has been turned over to congressional investigators who are looking into data falsification in other parts of the country.
“Everybody knows falsification is going on,” the whistleblower told me, adding the malfeasance in the LA region is so obvious that it’s hard to miss.
She said she’s coming forward now because she “applauds” the others who have spoken up already.
Census employees have blown the whistle on the Denver and Philadelphia regions. A Denver whistleblower recently turned over information to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

The real public health scare

Getting lost in the ebola scare is the true public health threat enterovirus D68.

Is it a coincidence that this is showing up right after the immigration invasion and subsequent placement of these immigrants across the country?

Once again, Sharyl Atkisson is the only journalist with the fortitude to ask the question............

At least five children infected with the respiratory illness known enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) have died in the U.S. in the past month.
The lastest confirmed victim was a four-year-old New Jersey boy, Eli Waller. He died at home on September 25. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) confirmed the cause of death Friday night. But health officials say they have no idea how he contracted the virus. A health official says Eli was “asymptomatic and fine” when he went to bed but died overnight. He had no known preexisting immune weakness.
CDC Overview of EV-D68
A 10-year girl Rhode Island girl infected with EV-D68, Emily Otrando, died less than 24 hours after being rushed to the hospital with breathing problems. Three other patients with EV-D68 also died in September.
The CDC reports that in the past month and a half, at least 538 people in 43 states and the District of Columbia have become ill with EV-D68. Most of them are children and some developed limb paralysis. Polio, which can cause paralysis and death, is a type of enterovirus. EV-D68 is one of more than a hundred “non-polio” enteroviruses.

On student loans........
Eager to broadcast some good news approaching the midterm elections, the Obama administration recently announced a welcome dip in student loan defaults, from 14.7 percent for the 2010 cohort (loans taken out in that year) to 13.7 percent for 2011. Policymakers, alarmed about how our trillion-dollar student loan burden and soaring default rates are undermining our economic growth, cheered the report.
Unfortunately, it turns out the numbers are bogus.
In keeping with a White House that talks a good game on transparency but that is cloaked in secrecy, the Department of Education moved the goalposts at the last minute, changing how the default rates were calculated and thus sparing some colleges from tough penalties. It has so far refused to say which schools were given a reprieve, though it appears likely that black colleges were the major beneficiaries.

A field supervisor in the Census Bureau’s Denver region has informed her organization’s higher-ups, the head of the Commerce Department and congressional investigators that she believes economic data collected by her office is being falsified.
And this whistleblower — who asked that I not identify her — said her bosses in Denver ignored her warnings even after she provided details of wrongdoing by three different survey takers. The three continued to collect data even after she reported them.
When I spoke with this whistleblower earlier this year as part of my investigation of Census, she told me that hundreds of interviews that go into the Labor Department’s unemployment rate and inflation surveys would miraculously be completed just hours before deadline.

The lead investigator into the Secret Service prostitution scandal told Senate staffers that he was directed to delay the release of the report until after the 2012 election, according to a published report.
According to The Washington Post, David Nieland also said that he was instructed by his superiors in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) inspector general's office to "withhold and alter certain information in the report of investigation because it was potentially embarrassing to the administration." He likely gave the account to aides on the Senate homeland security committee, which had looked into the case.
The Post also reported that senior White House aides were given information suggesting that a prostitute had stayed in the hotel room of a member of the White House's advance team, contrary to earlier denials that any member of the administration was involved.

Don't They Deserve the Dream?

The only journalist in America on the job

In my humble opinion, you can count the number of "journalists", media people willing to push back on the company line, on one hand...... Jake Tapper, Jon Karl, Ed Henry and that's about it.

Only one journalist is actually investigating anything. Sharyl Atkisson and she's getting dirty on the autism/vaccine story that no one will touch.

A former Centers for Disease Control (CDC) researcher, best known for his frequently-cited studies dispelling a link between vaccines and autism, is still considered on the lam after allegedly using CDC grants of tax dollars to buy a house and cars for himself.

Paul Thorson listed as a most-wanted fugitive by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, was discredited in April 2011 when he was indicted on 13 counts of wire fraud and nine counts of money laundering. Some have argued that his alleged fraudulent behavior calls into question the validity of his studies. There is no indication the studies have been retracted to date.

According to the HHS Inspector General, “From approximately February 2004 until February 2010, Poul Thorsen executed a scheme to steal grant money awarded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).”

CDC employed Thorsen as a visiting scientist from Denmark prior to awarding grants to Denmark to fund “research involving the relationship between autism and the exposure to vaccines” and other disabilities. Thorsen is accused of diverting over $1 million of CDC grant money, public funds, for his personal use.

“Thorsen submitted fraudulent invoices on CDC letterhead to medical facilities assisting in the research for reimbursement of work allegedly covered by the grants. “–HHS IG
Thorsen co-authored studies in the New England Journal of Medicine and Pediatrics concluding there is no link between autism and thimerosal used in vaccines nor between autism and the MMR vaccine.

The findings were consistent with the public messaging of his CDC grantor and of CDC director Julie Gerberding who went on to become president of Merck vaccines, heading up its $5 billion global vaccine market. Other peer-reviewed, published studies have found links between vaccines and autism, and the government secretly conceded a case of autism after its leading medical expert concluded the child’s multiple vaccinations caused brain injuries that resulted in her autism.

What's with our president?

Jim Geraghty has a piece on his blog "What is with the president?" analyzing how it is this administration continues to make blunder after blunder on White House communications.

Let me add some things to this list.

1) This guy is freakin' lazy. Let's face it. He's never had a real job in his life so I'm sure that having staffer after staffer waiting on you to make decisions becomes wearing.

2) Voting present isn't an option when you president. Real jobs mean making real decisions; often tough decisions. Not making a decision is a decision in and of itself. This guy thinks that not doing anything in the Middle East means that things will work themselves out. We can now see results of "leading from behind".

3) Because this guy has never had a real job, he really does not understand what an executive is called to do. Seriously, this guy thinks that an executive just shows up to rally the worker bees and then he's free to hit the golf course.

Years ago, I had a client who would just be AWOL during the day leaving her staff to make really important decisions without her. Then she would ream them out for not consulting her when they made a decision she didn't like. I told her that being a business owner was more than a name on a business card. I wasn't her accountant after that day and she's no longer in business today. Go figure.

4) He's intellectually inflexible. Part of being a liberal is adhering to the orthodoxy even in the face of abject failure. ie they still want to confront global warming despite the fact that there hasn't been any warming in the past 18 years yet no one can really explain why; let's be nice to terrorists and they'll leave us alone etc.....

5) He's doesn't want his name on anything so went the shit hits the fan he's got a scapegoat.

Back in the day when I worked in banking, my department head asked me to rewrite some inane memo. When I asked him what he wanted in or out of the memo he gave me a whole line of fluffy bullshit that didn't mean anything. I told him if he wanted it changed he could edit what he wanted.

It pissed him off because he really didn't want to be associated with the memo. I concluded that he wanted me to be the fall guy when the shit started flying.

If you have any other reasons why these guys are truly the JV team email them to me at gtvcpa@yahoo.com and I'll post them.

I couldn't agree more.

Megyn Kelly GRILLS Jen Psaki On Leon Panetta's Withdrawing Troops From I...

Back to the future

Remember the good old days when liberals decried the use of paper bags to bag your groceries because some giant Sequoia in California had to die to make it.

In the perpetual liberal whining about all things commercial, plastic now sucks.

Go to a grocery store in California and buy all the milk, eggs and vegetables you want. But there’s one thing you won’t find at the checkout line, beginning July 1, 2015: Plastic bags to carry your stuff home.
Gov. Jerry Brown (D) on Tuesday signed into law a ban on single-use plastic bags, making California the first state to prohibit stores from using the ubiquitous carry-alls. Shoppers will be charged 10 cents for every paper bag and heavy-duty plastic bag they use.
“This bill is a step in the right direction,” Brown said in a press releaseannouncing his approval. “It reduces the torrent of plastic polluting our beaches, parks and even the vast ocean itself.”
It is also a step toward what is likely to be an expensive electoral fight pitting the plastics industry against environmentalists who support the ban. The American Progressive Bag Alliance, an industry group of plastics producers, said Tuesday it will mount a campaign to collect enough signatures to put an initiative repealing the measure on the ballot in 2016.

Here's the dirty little secret about canvas bags. They create a larger carbon footprint than plastics.
None the less, I'm convinced that liberals will always create something to whine about .

The war on working people

Meet Yonah Israel

Why is Mr. Israel in the news..........

Cincinnati police arrested a man Wednesday just blocks away from where he allegedly shot and killed a service worker after an argument about an ATM machine in Roselawn.

Yonah Israel, 36, was charged with murder in the shooting death of Daniel Muscarella, 54, police said at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Israel has a criminal record and was arrested around 2:30 p.m. in the 7100 block of Reading Road close to where the homicide took place, said Capt. Eliot Isaac.

To say that this clown has a criminal record is the understatement of the year. This guy has been arrested and convicted over 50 times since the 1990's. He should never have been on the street.

Now let me ask you this question. Is it the crime policies of liberals or conservatives who allowed this guy to commit a murder against a working stiff trying to provide for his family?

Remember, this guy wasn't in the suburbs, where we would have dealt with him probably after his 20th conviction, he was in "Progress" City inflicting his pain.

Elbert Guillory: Mary Landrieu is Not Helping Blacks

The war on the poor

So utility costs are going up in Massachusetts.

Many Massachusetts households are going to see their electric bills shoot up 37 percent this winter, a rate increase that some advocates fear will put additional strain on low-income families.
State regulators approved the increase for National Grid household customers that would mean an average of $33 per month more for the typical residential customer and would push a typical monthly bill higher than $150.
Large-business customers will see even higher increases.National Grid has almost 1.3 million residential and business electric customers in Massachusetts. The new rates take effect in November.
"This is pretty bad, and it's going to really have a bearing on a lot of Massachusetts households' abilities to just make ends meet this winter," John Howat, senior energy analyst at the National Consumer Law Center in Boston, told The Boston Globe.
The utility blame the rate hikes on the cost of buying electricity from power plants, which has soared because of an increased demand for natural gas used to generate electricity.
Why is there an increase in natural gas prices?

Because the political correctness known as global warming means that we can't use coal to generate electricity.

Let me ask a question

Who gets hurt more from increased utility costs in Massachusetts?

1) Single Moms
2) John Kerry
3) Ben Affleck
4) David Ortiz
5) Tom Brady

The war on children

Between getting ready for vacation, doing vacation, and catching up from vacation, I'm not able to devote some blogging time.

While I was out of town, I read this piece printed, in all places, the Minneapolis Star Tribune regarding the plan reduction in suspensions in Minneapolis Schools.

Creating stable middle class neighborhoods should be the top priority of our political and civic leaders — a goal requiring quality public schools, reasonable taxes and low crime rates. The simple fact is that Minneapolis and St. Paul will not be healthy without a large and growing middle class.
But the reality is that people often leave depressed inner city communities quietly without much fanfare. Who can blame them given the quality of the schools and the level of crime and violence that exist in parts of our city? Along with most people reading this article, I would never expose children to the risks that exist in many parts of our city.
What’s ironic is that public schoolteachers and elected officials know this. These public servants often talk of their support for public schools while disproportionately sending their children to private schools.
Some studies show that public schoolteachers are twice as likely as the general public to send their kids to private schools. Other studies have shown that over 30 percent of the members of Congress send their school age children to private schools, while less than 10 percent of the general public use private schools.
The recent effort by the Minneapolis school board to reduce suspensions in early grades and equalize suspensions across racial lines will have one certain effect — more chaos in the classroom. The school system will, of course, deny that the new policy will be harmful, presenting it as necessary to close the achievement gap and a learning opportunity for students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds.

So let me ask a question, is it the big, racist, conservatives subjecting good students to packs of derelicts or liberals?

I keep saying on this blog that I'm not a conservative for me. I've got my education so what do I give a shit if a bunch of kids in Minneapolis can't read because the school district would rather protect miscreants rather than educating the diligent. In fact, it's to my economic advantage to keep these kids ignorant.

But right is right. and you won't find a conservative worth their wears who would approve of this policy.

It's the liberals, waging the war on children.

Quote of the day

"What's so cynical about today's immigration announcement is that the president isn't saying he'll follow the law, he's just saying he'll go around the law once it's too late for Americans to hold his party accountable in the November elections."

Mitch McConnell

Welcome to America

Please make sure you pass your TB and Enterovirus on our citizens..........

More than 30 Lynn Community Health Center employees and 800 patients are being tested to determine if they were exposed to tuberculosis after center doctors confirmed a case.

Center Director Lori Berry says after confirming the single positive test for tuberculosis in a male health care worker around Labor Day, center medical workers contacted and tested employees as well as patients ‘‘having sufficient exposure to warrant testing.’’

City Health Director MaryAnn O'Connor tells The Daily Item the identified case at the center is ‘‘not a reason to panic’’ and said people should not stay away from clinic

The Center for Disease Control’s website describes tuberculosis as bacteria ‘‘that usually attack the lungs’’ but can attack other parts of the body, and if not treated properly can be fatal.

This article doesn't suggest that the TB originated from an illegal immigrant but would you like to make a wager on it?

But let's not forget our friend enterovirus...........

Maybe liberals haven’t noticed yet, but it hasn’t taken all that long for the infective consequences of President Obama’s refusal to put Americans first to befall the most innocent among us. For starters, Ohio, California, and Kansas are just a few of the states already struggling to contain measles outbreaks.

Now, in addition to measles, more than 1,000 children in 10 states -- Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa, Colorado, Ohio, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Georgia -- have suddenly become infected with a rare respiratory virus, not seen in the U.S. since the 1960s, called human Enterovirus EV-D68. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention claim that the rare strain is related to the same rhinovirus responsible for causing the common cold.

The dire prediction is that in the coming weeks and months, Enterovirus EV-D68, origin unknown, is due to spread to all 50 states and afflict great numbers of otherwise healthy children.

This guy is a sociopath

President Barack Obama told NBC News on Sunday that he regrets the "optics" of going golfing just minutes after making a speech about the beheading of American journalist James Foley by ISIS terrorists.

"I've got to ask. During that vacation, you made the statement on Foley. You went and golfed. Do you want that back?" asked NBC News' Chuck Todd.

"You know, it is always a challenge when you're supposed to be on vacation because you're followed everywhere," said Obama. "There's always going to be some tough news somewhere....I should have anticipated the optics."

Obama said he held back tears after speaking with the parents of the beheaded.

Obama added, "Part of this job is the theater of it."

So when he held back the tears, was that part of the theater?

I've got an idea. How about being moved so much in someone's grief, that teeing off isn't one of your first intstincts.

It's called empathy.

Blaming the victim

So if being drunk may make you more susceptible to being raped, wouldn't you educate coeds as such?

Not in today's politically correct society..........

“I don’t think you are doing young women any favors by saying, We’re not going to tell you that this happens – and be careful about it.” The reason given for the censorship, she says, were “focusing on how much students drink . . . leads to blaming victims.”

That's hilarious.

At the University of Cincinnati's own website, they have safety tips to help protect yourself against crime on and near campus.

Here's the list of suggestions
  • Lock your doors and windows
  • Be alert and aware of your surroundings
  • Don't leave cell phones and computers unattended in plain sight
  • Travel in pairs or groups - don't walk alone
  • Avoid dark streets and hallways
  • Don't reveal personal information to strangers or new acquaintances
  • Don't leave door/house keys under the doormat and don't leave notes on the door
  • Don't get on an elevator with someone that makes you feel uncomfortable
How is adding a line item saying, don't get plastered in bars somehow"blaming the victim"?

Surely, coeds should be able to get bombed like anyone else. But every student should know that being impaired means being impaired. You are not nearly as likely to fight off an attack when you're bombed.......male or female.

So we're going to play pretend not give students the truth.

Who's the journalist and who's the hack?

So James O'Keefe is not considered a journalist for some of his stunts like crossing the border in an Osama bin Laden mask to illustrate the porous border situation we have.

But, of course, if Jim Avila, from ABC news does it, it is somehow legtimate.........

It's not that difficult to cross into Mexico's southern border from Guatemala, claims ABC News reporter Jim Avila: For $5, he was able to board a raft and make a short trip across a river, along with three other people.
"We found in Guatemala just last month makeshift rafts, filled with immigrants crossing illegally into Mexico heading to the U.S.," Avila said during a segment on ABC's "This Week" Sunday. "I boarded one with no papers, no IDs checked. Cost me $5 to bring three people over here from Guatemala to Mexico."

As nearly 75 percent of the nearly 63,000 illegal, unaccompanied migrant juveniles that have come across the United States' southern border have been from Central America, there has been concern that many are traveling through Guatemala on their way north. Others pass through Belize into Mexico, and then into the United States, ABC reports.

What's the difference?

Liberalism, siccing the predators on their communities

I'm a law and order type of conservative. Do the crime and do the crime.

But why should I care if liberals want to set criminals loose on society? Take any poor, crime ridden area. When the criminals get released, do they come to my area in Redville? No. They head right back to to "Progress" City where they can continue victimizing their communities.

Never has there been a more clear example of this than a recent killing here in Cincinnati.

Deters believes the Aug. 19 shooting deaths in Avondale of Antwon Ward and Tywaune Thomas might have been prevented had Hunter sent Thomas to juvenile prison as prosecutors asked. Instead, Hunter, in an October 2013 sentencing, ordered Thomas to undergo outpatient drug treatment, to attend school and be placed on house arrest wearing an electronic device to monitor his whereabouts, Deters said.

"Judge Hunter has consistently said that she is doing this 'for the children.' Well, now we have a dead one," a statement issued by Deters office Thursday morning states.

Prosecutors asked for a prison term because Thomas was convicted of trafficking in heroin, his 37th conviction as a juvenile. Because Thomas also had a history, prosecutors said, of running away from unsecured facilities and violating his house arrest, they asked that he be sent to juvenile prison until age 21, the maximum sentence.

Thomas would have been in prison, Deters noted, on Aug. 19 when authorities said he shot and killed Ward in the 500 block of Carplin Avenue. Thomas then was shot and killed by an unnamed third person.

"Her campaign to not incarcerate violent juveniles has been a disaster," Deters said. "This should come as no surprise."

Certainly no surprise to me which is why I moved to the 'burbs. Judge Hunter can keep those criminals right where she wants them. In her neighborhood.

Seriously, Democrats wouldn't have to keep importing immigrant voters if they simply prevented the killing of their existing constituency.

Brit Hume on Sotloff Beheading ISIS And Obama

Why I no longer trust the government

Many years ago, a theory was floated that there may be a link between vaccinations and autism.

Jenny McCarthy and others who advocated this belief have been besieged by a public relations campaign sponsored by the CDC discrediting this belief.

Nevermind, that the CDC cannot tells us what is causing this increase of children on the spectrum. But they know for sure that McCarthy and her ilk are nutty. Just ask the totally unbiased studies commissioned by the CDC for proof.

Oh..... it turns out that these studies are totally bogus...........

A CDC senior epidemiologist stepped forward last week to say that he and his CDC colleagues omitted data that linked MMR vaccine to autism in a 2004 study. The scientist, William Thompson, said “I regret that my coauthors and I omitted statistically significant information.”

Sharryl Attkisson, maybe the only journalist to question the authorities, is tracking this.

What is phenomenal is that Attkisson, actually posed a question to the CDC that they never even considered. Are Amish Children seeing the same increases of Autism seen in the general population?

They've never done any study or questionnaires on the subject.

Seriously!

I'm just guessing but I think maybe they are afraid of what they might find.

2 arraigned in deaths of Forest Grove sisters

2 arraigned in deaths of Forest Grove sisters: 2 arraigned in deaths of Forest Grove sisters

The science is settled.........

Except when it isn't.......

Global warming has been temporarily 'paused' according to a group of scientists, who attribute this interlude to climate fluctuations and a more restrained sun.

No shit? Who would have thought that the sun would have some impact on global warming?

But apparently there are other things that impact the climate as well.

The first is that global temperatures, which rose significantly in the 1990s, have only risen very slightly since 1998 - which has been used by sceptics to question climate change and the models used to measure it.

However, climate fluctuations such as El Niño and its counter-phenomenon La Niña have been shown to have caused the high in 1998 and following cooler years respectively. Climate models cannot predict when exactly these fluctuations will happen.

The other reason for the lower temperatures is weak solar irradiance. As well as fluctations in the climate, changes in the intensity of solar irradiance have been showing unusual patterns. The researchers also say that volanic eruptions, such as Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland in 2010, "have increased the concentration of floating particles (aerosol) in the atmosphere, which has further weakened the solar irradiance arriving at the Earth's surface".

So wait, you mean that El Nino's, La Nina's, also have an impact on climate as well?

But you can't figure what the impact is, but you are certain that humans have the most impact?

And you call me a denier?

I've got an question. Since apparently the science is settled. Why is the government spending resources investigating something that's "settled"?

I'll bet if the funding gets cut off, things will be less "settled"

Another must read

Mark Steyn on the militarization of the police............

The most basic problem is that we will never know for certain what happened. Why? Because the Ferguson cruiser did not have a camera recording the incident. That's simply not credible. "Law" "enforcement" in Ferguson apparently has at its disposal tear gas, riot gear, armored vehicles and machine guns ...but not a dashcam. That's ridiculous. I remember a few years ago when my one-man police department in New Hampshire purchased a camera for its cruiser. It's about as cheap and basic a police expense as there is.

Who lost the cities?

A must read from Kevine Williamson from NRO.

Money passage..........

The more progressive the city, the worse a place it is to be poor and/or black. The most pronounced economic inequality in the United States is not in some Republican redoubt in Texas but in San Francisco, an extraordinarily expensive city in which half of all black households make do with less than $25,000 a year. Blacks in San Francisco are arrested on drug felonies at ten times their share of the general population. At 6 percent of the population, they represent 40 percent of those arrested for homicides. Whether you believe that that is the result of a racially biased criminal-justice system or the result of higher crime incidence related to socioeconomic conditions within black communities (or some combination of those factors) what is undeniable is that results for black Americans are far worse in our most progressive, Democrat-dominated cities than they are elsewhere. The progressives have had the run of things for a generation in these cities, and the results are precisely what you see.

Jason Riley on Ferguson

Meet Amanda Curtis

Do what the cops tell you

Years ago, I was at a party that was starting to get out of hand.

I was watching something on TV with my buddies and a cop walked in a yelled "everyone under 18 get the hell out of here right now".

That was all the warning I needed.

Unfortunately, as I was heading out the door, some ass hole behind me started bitching about private property, pigs and rights.

I wish I knew what happened to that guy because the last I saw him he was on the ground eating carpet fiber.

Me?  I walked away without a problem.

As I get older, I feel more like Kevin Kline bitching out William Hurt in the Big Chill for disrespecting the cop who pulled him over.

I haven't posted on the Ferguson dust up because I don't know that happened that day.........Just like every one of the talking heads who have an opinion on this event.

But it's following a similar pattern to all the other events like this.

Media puts out unconfirmed reports. People jump to their respective sides.

The Bobblehead Reverends show up and make things even more polarized.

Eventually, this cop will face some show trial but because the witnesses have been tainted by their prejudices, multiple investigations contradicting each other and media attention, there will be no ability to prosecute this cop which will start a mini riot still to come.

The moral to the story, do what the cop tells you and you walk away.

The Euro's are learning their lesson

Will we learn from their mistakes...................

The Dutch government says it will abandon the long-standing model of multiculturalism that has encouraged Muslim immigrants to create a parallel society within the Netherlands.
A new integration bill (covering letter and 15-page action plan), which Dutch Interior Minister Piet Hein Donner presented to parliament on June 16, reads: "The government shares the social dissatisfaction over the multicultural society model and plans to shift priority to the values of the Dutch people. In the new integration system, the values of the Dutch society play a central role. With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society."
The letter continues: "A more obligatory integration is justified because the government also demands that from its own citizens. It is necessary because otherwise the society gradually grows apart and eventually no one feels at home anymore in the Netherlands. The integration will not be tailored to different groups."
The new integration policy will place more demands on immigrants. For example, immigrants will be required to learn the Dutch language, and the government will take a tougher approach to immigrants to ignore Dutch values or disobey Dutch law.
The government will also stop offering special subsidies for Muslim immigrants because, according to Donner, "it is not the government's job to integrate immigrants." The government will introduce new legislation that outlaws forced marriages and will also impose tougher measures against Muslim immigrants who lower their chances of employment by the way they dress. More specifically, the government will impose a ban on face-covering Islamic burqas as of January 1, 2013.

Practice what you preach

Living with the demagoguery of democrats would be tolerable if the media would just call out the hypocrisy every once in a while........

For example, African-American staffers on Democratic campaigns were paid 70 cents for each dollar their white counterparts made. For Hispanic staffers in Democratic campaigns, the figure was 68 cents on the dollar.

And a recent study by PowerPAC+, funded by a major Democratic donor, revealed that less than 2 percent of spending by Democratic campaign committees during the past two election cycles went to firms owned by minorities.

Political operative Michael Gomez Daly worked on two congressional campaigns in 2012 with similar budgets. On one campaign, Daly, who describes himself as “a very light-skinned Hispanic,” was brought in as a field director, primarily for his skills as a Latino operative who could reach out to the Hispanic community. On the second campaign, where they did not know he was Hispanic, “I just came in as ‘Michael Daly,’ instead of ‘that Latino operative,’” he said. “Right off the bat they offered me twice the amount for the same job.”

Protecting illegals costs American lives

By not deporting illegals ASAP, we leave them to commit these crimes against citizens.............

Dickinson police say an officer tried to pull over a Dodge Durango for a traffic violation. When the officer turned on his emergency lights, the driver sped off, reaching 100 miles per hour. About 1.3 miles later, the suspect disregarded a stop sign and struck a Honda Accord that was headed eastbound on FM 646. The impact so intense, the Honda Accord was pushed into a ditch and knocked down power lines.

The driver involved in a police chase that ended in a fatal crash was identified as 23-year-old Juan Garcia Ahuezoteco.

There were four people in the Honda Accord, Rafael Guerrero, 41, Alejandra Guerrero, 38, Gilberto Ortega Jr., 25, and a 15-year-old teenage boy. All four died on scene. Family members say the boy was the son of the Guerrero.

So why was Ahuezoteco so eager to flee the police?

There were two men killed in the Durango. The driver was identified as Juan Garcia Ahuezoteco, 23. His passenger was Alejandro Molina. It has been determined that Ahuezoteco had an outstanding felony warrant for Driving While Intoxicated. Ahuezoteco's girlfriend, who says she is pregnant with his child, says she was on the phone with the suspect as he fled from police.

"He was freaking out," the woman told Eyewitness News.

She says he was afraid of getting deported and told her he loved her before the crash.

So these folks killed can thank President Obama for their Dream Act.
